Is there such a thing with golf?

Is it a mental thing? Is it a Skill thing? A.N.Other factor?

What, in your opinion(s), are the keys to consistency in the game of golf?

last 2 rounds for me have been classics, and we've all been there. Saturday I hit 95% of shots sweet as a nut, very consistent but scored badly because the greens were freshly treated/tined. So wasn't upset because I was hitting it well. Yesterday I scuffed my way around and only hit 2 good drives. I thinned a few as well, but managed to scramble my way to a better score than last weekends. Scratches head and walks away ....

I think a lot of it is mental. Recently I've been trusting my swing more and as a consequence I've been more relaxed. Focus on my target and Robert's your father's brother. The problem I have is maintaining that level of intense (yet relaxed) concentration during what is supposed to be an enjoyable, fun 4 hour game!

I would love to know the answer but for me, its partly mental (concentration) and partly teaching and ingraining my body to do the right thing. The rest of it is about cleaning up the ball and getting up and down.

My PB +13 was not a great ball striking round, it was a great chipping and putting round.

The only way is to get your house name changed to "Consistency" and then when you go to unlock the front door you will have your "keys to consistency"

I would suggest it's a combination of meaningful practice off the course and clear thinking on the course. At what level you will be consistent however is down to teachnique and ability.

I agree that consistancy is important but as a 22 handicapper I don't want to be consistant right now!!! Maybe if I get my game as low as I feel I can I'll take consistancy.

At my level consistancy is just limiting my potential.

At Cat 1 level, consistancy is the difference between winning and losing - Just my opinion!!
