Just starting out

Bacon,

I know people will disagree with me but personally i'd buy a cheap set like the ones you have shown and see how you get on with the game and if you wish to continue then buy a better set a year or so down the line.

I bet loads of people buy a £300-£500 load of gear then play for no longer than a month.

Anyway good luck with whatever you choose and welcome to the forum.

I agree! Buy cheap, but look around sites like 'golf direct' I got a set from them...hippo irons for £60 and they were ok and because they were cheap I went to a sale at jjb and got a set of slazenger irons too, now Im set for a few yrs lol.

Stick with the irons you buy until you learn to play to a reasonable standard before buying again, its so easy to fall into the must have or must buy trap in this game, 1 in 3 golfers will tell you or encourage you to buy something to improve your game, lol....dont do it!!!

Well i got the clubs they are Top Flite Pro Responce.
Had a 100 balls on local driving range didn't do to bad with the irons but tried the drivers but i seem to be hitting the ball at the bottom and it shrubs along the floor not getting any hit so i lifted the club slightly and that seemed to work better as it gained height,
Is there a rule to how much off the ground the club should be?

Welcome to the party!

First things first. Get a lesson or course of lessons before you get into some very bad habits. I speak from experiance, and wish I'd got the lessons in earlier in my golfing career!! It will help stop a lot of the frustration caused by playing badly as you'll learn how to correct some of your own mistakes.

Sounds like you're hooked though.

No but there is an optimum distance which will affect your ball stricking and ballflight unless your good at trick shots.I think there is a rule to cover the maximum lenght of tees so this will effect the height of the ball off the ground.
