My 16 year old grandsons are interested in golf, have had a couple of lessons at the driving range and are now ready to go a bit further. They are twins: one left handed and one right handed.

So far, they have a left handed 7 iron and a right handed hybrid but to tackle a few holes on a golf course they need a few more clubs.

Now, while I can probably borrow a set of right handed clubs, left handed clubs are more difficult.

Currently I am looking for a low cost left handed full set on auction sites on the basis that they may not get much further into golf.

As an alternative, it would be possible to go for a wood, a sand wedge and a putter. Would these plus the 7 iron be enough to get round a few holes? Could then buy a full set if interest seems to develop.

You’ll appreciate that I don’t know much about golf so advice would be very useful.

Try Sports Direct.

They have cheap clubs for sale individually. Any wood/hybrid a 7 iron, wedge and a putter is more than enough to get them going.

Just because they are left/right handed doesn't necessarily mean that that would be the "correct" way round for them to play. There are many, many top players who play "right handed" who are predominately left handed and similarly predominately right handed top players who play "left handed" (2 examples would be Phil Michelson and Mike Weir).
