Just in case you're not quite up for it yet, here's a few reminders of where the Belfry guys are playing tomorrow.

Have a great time everyone :D

Although this is a two hole course, it is a great experience and everyone will have a great time.

Bearing this in mind, are there any other holes in the UK where everyone tries to hit one particular shot, whatever the consequences - I refer of course to the drive on the 10th where you must have a go for the green, it's the law!

This is how to play it.....chopper style.

1.Driver (about 210 when you always hit it at least 275!)
2.Hybrid (because a 3 iron doesn't work and, as Y.E. Yang proved, will drop and stop)....but it doesn't quite get over
3.Penalty drop
4. Play a 52.567 degree wedge over the lake
5. Putt up and "lip out" because all putts lip out, even if 5 foot short
6. Roll in a beauty and claim "it would have been a par if my rescue was up to it's normal standard".

Double bogey 6 - the chopper way!

Some of the higher handicappers are going to struggle on some of the greens - the 18th is about 60 yards front to back - some of them will need a wedge rather than a putter.

I played my first putt (on the 18th) with my 5 wood (in 1998?) when I visited. I also used it from the front of the 13th i.i.r.c.

Didn't one of the US team actually use a wedge on the 18th green in one of the Ryder Cup matches a few years ago??

I saw Darren Clarke use a wedge on the green when he won the WGC a few years back. He didn't have a line to the pin from where he was on the green - kidney shaped iirc - so he chipped it over the rough, back onto the green and near the hole.

I can believe it. Never tried it myself....hope I don't ever need to :D

i played an away course yesaterday - the 18th is a 3 tiered green. After my round i was on the balcony with the 3 members i went around with.
We witnessed a player get his wedge out on the lower level and chipped onto the upper level
The 3 members were apopleptic - understandably.
He didnt take a divot - but even so...

Maybe but I'm sure someone did it in the RC. Chipped/pitched up from the lower level.

Peter Alliss was not impressed (as only he can be!)
