Quite a few of the competitins at my club have a max handicap of 18.
That's not to say that higher h/cappers cannot play. However, they are only allowed 18 shots, even if they play off, say 28.
It just doesn't seem fair. How can a golfer off 28 lower his handicap if he loses 10 shots before he even starts?
I suppose it deters high players from entering which smack of elitism, private comps for mid to low golfers.
High handicappers pay the same club subs as the lower guys, why should they be penalised?
Could it be the threat of the high fellas winning and getting their name on the boards?
Discuss.
