sorry to be boring or thick (delete as appropriate) what are the degrees and equivalents for 3 and 5 woods . i know it is often frowned upon but i can not hit any iron above a 5 consistently and was considering removing them from my bag (roar of disapproval from the purists)

cheers andy

a 3 wood normally has 15 degrees loft,5 wood 18 degrees loft, and as you say you dont hit anything more than a 5 iron,24 degrees is a 4 iron replacement many brands may differ but thats generally what they are

this is my set

(#3 21 degrees)
#4 24º
#5 27º
#6 30º
#7 34º
#8 38º
#9 42º
PW 46º

as andiritchie points out most 3 woods are 15 and 5s 18.

BUT, the loft is not automaticaly equated across....because fairway woods have longer shafts, so go further. The jury is still out on Hybrid/rescues because although the shafts are a tad longer, the ball gets a higher launch.

I'll elaborate later.
