Ah. No they weren’t. I actually took photos of the tv screen at the time I was watching the recording to add to this thread but the file sizes was too high.

Just looked at the screen grabs and one was 2 or 3 inches in front of his ball. So I guess relief was on the basis of “intended swing”. They were sunk below ground level and completely flat. No golf swing would have come near them, due to the fact they were sunken, IMO. Assuming a flattish lie, how many inches beyond the ball should a ref deem suitable for relief from intended swing? How long is a piece of string? Act with integrity or call the ref over? :)
