Get in. As others have said by playing competitions, matches etc you'll soon get known. You have to put out a little to get back and it does take a bit of effort initially to find out when the greedies (swindles etc) are but most pros will help new members fit in. Get to know your steward as they will always know who is due to play or is normally around.
