Does anyone else want to punch Jeff Overton square in the face?

A great golfer, for sure, but he really gets on my last nerve. And that reaction to his pitch in yesterday further fuelled my hatred towards him. What a twunt.

I hope Ross "the nicest man in golf" Fisher absolutely embrasses him today.

I don't know much about him, but I can only guess he was trying to get something going yesterday, against a fairly enthusiastic crowd. Ok, it made him look a tit, but he was only trying to gee himself up a bit.

Still want Fisher to win, obviously. He's English and I like him.

Overton is just another Journey man.

I think they both looked a pair of pricks!!

And im afraid that if I had been in the crowd I dont think that I could of refrained myself from making ym feelings known to them!

Overtons now on my favourite player list (which is very long!) :D How can anybody not like the pumped up action of the ryder cup?
Is performance over the ryder cup was sublime especially considering his performance overall.

When we see the European players pumped up and expressing feeling it's great to see but when US players do it they are pricks or they look like tits?

Don't buy it.

They are all trying to do their bit for the team and when something special happens, sure they will have some emotion to let out. The Europeans are probably just a bit more reserved than the US - Poulter aside.

Since none of the crowd was particularly enthralled by his eagle I don't blame him and Bubba getting a little extra happy.
Imagine if Seve had been a Yank. Overton was doing very little different to his antics of the past, or Poulter's.

I'm all for showing emotion, but his "pumped" up emotion from his holed eagle was ALOT more OTT than any other "fired up" emotion I saw all weekend, including Poults. He seemed to get into tantrums and get mardy like a little child, which I just find pathetic.

Also, in the closing ceremony, he was particularly rude, talking to the guy next to him throughout pretty much all the different speeches. There were others mumbling (on both teams) throughout the speeches, but doing it subtley. Unlike Overton who was basically turned sideways and talking in his team mate's (Cink's, I think) ear. Didn't look like he wanted to be there (he probably didn't, but the rest of the team seemed gracious enough to sit and accept it)and to me it was disrespectful.

I don't doubt he's a top class golfer, but the way he handles himself is far from classy.

I thought Overton's reaction to holing from the fairway was awesome - that's the kind of energy and will to win you need on a team. Wish I was there on the fairway with him, I'd have been shouting "COME ON!" at the top of my voice.

Top fella in my book especially after the criticism he received for being in the team without actually winning anything.

I think we look at reactions differently depending on who did them.

Maybe no one should be allowed to be so enthusiastic when celebrating, go back to the old days when all you'd get was a wave to the crowd and a tip of the cap?

Or, we should be equally accepting of all OTT reactions.

Of course Tiger didn't celebrate his eagle much, mostly because he hates the RC  ;) :p

Did anyone else listen to the 5-Live broadcast yesterday?
There was a moment in there when Bernard Gallacher lost it with Overton over his attempting to change a Referees decision.
Seems like Gallacher had words with Overton, then Overton's father did a 'you can't talk to my boy like that', to which gallacher replied ' if your boy knew the rules I wouldn't have to.'

He didn't realise it had gone in at first as he couldn't see where his ball had landed, unlike Overton.
Once he was told it had dropped, he seemed chuffed enough but by then the "moment" had gone.
I loved the way he tossed his putter back to his caddie as if to say "don't need it".
:D :D :D

I was being sarcastic Smiffy, you'd think he was Satan himself reading some posts about him!

Lets hope no one else on the course was trying to play a shot at that time. Can't wait for the next medal when i try it out if i hit a fairway or a green in regulation.

... but is that likely? :D

Probably slightly different to holing out from the fairway in the Ryder Cup but I'm liking your enthusiasm! :D :D
