I don't beleive it. Spent loads of time working on my game at the range, putting into practice the advice from the lessons.

Everything was ready for me to put what I have learned into play yesterday.

Only for me to go and break my toe on Saturday and not be able to play

It's the big toe on my left foot so I am hoping with use of a buggy I will be playing again in a couple of weeks, even if I can't walk properly!

If you're a right hander you may struggle to play properly as when you follow through to the finish of the shot, although the weight is mainly on your left side you'll still be pressing on that toe a bit.

I would let it heal properly by not aggravating it, at least 4 weeks.

But two weeks today I have a two day golf break booked...

And edit to original post, big toe on my left foot that is broken. I had my legs crossed when I wrote the original post and confused myself

I wreckon I could play with a broken left toe.

Give it time to heal though or you maybe out for longer!

Sorry to break it to you but foot injuries take an age to heal and big toes even longer. I had my right big toe badly swollen and that took 2 weeks before I could play again. The sooner you come back, the longer it will take to heal. I've broken my big toe before and it does take its sweet time.

Sorry mate, but you'll be off it for a while and if you come back before it's ready, you'll be feeling it for much, much longer.

How did you do it
Thanks Homer, the question I hate being asked.

I would love to say it was done in a big, hard manly way. sadly though I was kicking a sponge ball in the lounge with my 4 year old. One such kick was mis-timed and I kicked the floor instead!!!

I really do feel your pain at the moment! I did the exact same thing today, although in different circumstances! I now have a severely bruised (I can't believe how quickly it turned black!), highly swollen big left toe.

I am gutted as the golf was starting to come good and I can't even stand on my foot at the moment, even putting practice is out of the question currently! I am going through the old RICE routine though so hopefully I will be back practicing my short game (which was letting me down anyway) within the next week or two. As for my long game that has been in great condition but I guess it will just perish into a state of non retrieval for the foreseeable future due to no chance of practicing. I can't believe how much pain this stupid thing is causing me!

Seperate your toes with a bit of cotton wool. Tape them together with plaster (not with the lint but from a roll).
Loosen your laces and take pain killers/alcohol.

I played football for two months with a broken big toe. Just depends how much you want it.

It got to the point where I was getting close to throwing up but the bar afterwards soon kicked in. :D

Seriously I have quite a high pain threshold but ended up going to A & E today just to get it x-rayed and the breakage confirmed. I did it playing football and could not run as much as I tried (I did play on for 10 minutes) and kicking the ball was seriously out of the question. My break is obviously more severe is all I can say...or you are a nutter! ;) I suppose you are right it does depend how much you want it as I could play through the pain of running and not kick the ball with my left foot but this does the injury no good at all and is just silly as I would be in agony. I have played on with a broken nose before so I'm not a complete southern puff :p.

The doctor did actually say having seen the x-ray that they hadn't seen a toe break so severe, and wanted me to go on a course of painkillers which I declined as when not treading on it I'm alright. I am however going to go back tomorrow and get the crutches they offered as it is really giving me some grief...walking on the side of my foot is starting to hurt that!

Well the good news is I am back driving and pain killers are reduced to almost none a day, not fastned my shoe lace yet though.

Got a buggy sorted for the 36 holes on Tuesday but planning to walk the 18 on Monday.

Of course to make sure I am OK for this I am going to have to play my local nine holer on Sunday to make sure I am OK...
