Its all coming along nicely :)

I've had a few lessons and now chipping the linear method. Tightened up my driving and looking forward to some dry fairways to see if my splodgy hits improve, but, all in all, not unhappy at the moment .

i really hope these are shortened courses (and maybe some temps) Rob, otherwise dont forget to get the horse some water :p

Easy there fundy, that's my partner in the 4BBB at Lindrick that you're talking about. ;)

(I think it was the PGA National he was playing, only off the white tees though, not the blues)

Keep it up FT!

so just back from my 3rd lesson and wow, we had a quick recap over what we worked on followed by a few balls, he was impressed (the 1500 range balls inbetween the 1st and now is obviously paying off), dead straight or very slight fade. He then asked me to hit some intentional fades... no probs and no more than 2 yds of movement in flight. Then we moved onto longer irons so out came my 5 iron which at the mo is the longest (have the 3 and 4 so may pop them in for next lesson). He has markers in a straight line at 60, 120 and 180, so the180 flag was the target and maximum 15yds left or right for dispersion. 5 balls and all within 10 yds!! We then tried a draw.... crap, to start with at least. Eventually had a nice 2 yd draw and swapped between draw and fade.

Finally as my ball striking has improved he said I am further along than he anticipated so out came the big dog and his video camera :D
3 swings ended up with a slice, pull hook and top lol. Explained a few positions showing my video and my horrendous wristy OTT slash and how much I stay on the right side. A few pointers and a little drill to enable hitting up on the ball and I now can hit it dead str8 100yds haha (concentrating on impact position and follow through using a very short backswing).

So more of the same, concentrate on address, alignment, picking a target and stop flipping at impact with the irons, 10 balls max each time doing the driver drill. I might have to get a net and mat for the garden now, as the range is skinting me :(

Still early days but another booked for 2 weeks time and another £20 range card purchased, bring it on!!

Great believer in you get out what you put in and so I'm really pleased that all your hard work is paying off in fine fashion. I think you need to play as well as hit the range, with no expectations on scoring. As I know, world of difference from a grooved range swing and a one chance shot on the course. Keep the hard work up and big cuts this summer

Sounds good Steve, 2 yard fades followed by 2 yard draws, you'll have to teach me them :p

Not everyone was spot on but nothing was more than a few yards left/right of centre. We are mostly working on hitting straight, my natural swing is the slight fade which I am keeping as its actually very easy to do and quite consistent. Cant wait to play a round and go round in 135 after I blow up on the 1st :D
