But seeing as I was the only Div 1 entrant I could have scored anything and still won.

Actually Chris I almost feel I am to an extent.
Last 4 rounds have been 71, 74, 79 and 74 gross on a SSS of 69 - the only qualifier was the 79.
Feel I should really be off 7 but there you go.

There were quite a few in the other 2 divisions - the lower guys obviously heard I was playing well...

Normally when my club has a low turnout it makes the cut off for division 1 higher to include a lot more players and just runs it as a two division event

One turn out in your section, mate that is awful, how many do you get in a normal comp?
We get around 320-400 any given week in total and is a pretty good spread though is a little heavier towards the higher handicappers section.

Although we have 500 or so members, there are probably only 150 that play comps and the midweek section can be pretty thin. Can be up to 40 or more but more often nearer 30.
Very unusual to get only 1 in a division, although there was a single entry in Div 3 a few weeks back.

Also bear in mind that our midweek comps are held on one day only. I know some clubs havetheir midweek comps playable any day and you'll get a better turnout from that system.
