Had my copy of a (rival :o) golf mag drop through the door yesterday. Fantastic cover shot of Augusta in full bloom and all the Masters build up features inside.

For me, this is the time that signals the imminent arrival of the new golf season.

Entry is in for the first "proper" medal of the year in 2 weeks, the white blocks will be put back out, winter rules lifted. A swift 6 holes straight after work this evening with a bit of on course chipping practice.

After what seems like the longest ever winter in history, there is, finally, a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Hang in there fellow golfers, the end [of winter] is nigh!!

It certainly is. The Masters always signals the start of the season, and I always kick off the season on holiday in Florida. I will miss the first medal of the year, but will be ready to play the one when I come back after Easter. Can't wait. Evening golf again, sun, firm fairways, true greens, sun (did I mention that?), proper length course, off whites, roll, dry trousers, bring it on, I'm ready now.

Bone hard greens, bad bounces, sunburn, dying of thirst, tees so hard you cant get a tee peg in, water fountains broken and courses packed with fair weather golfers............cant wait. :D

Don't worry, it's only 5 months or so until next seasons nice new shiney clubs are released by the manufacturers :D

Ah, the optimism for the summer....

I love the Masters, think its what drew me to the game of golf from an early age. I've put money down on Rory to make top five there doubled with Westwood to be top 5 at the British. Fingers crossed.

Don't forget pasty white legs sticking out of cargo shorts and the course littered with beer cans

Was driving to work this morning and was thinking seriously about this weekend being the beginning of the season proper. I've told the good wife that this is where the serious practice begins and proper effort will be put in to getting into the swing of things again. A couple more rounds on our winter course then it'll be onto my first season at our new club on the full course... can not wait!

Also can't wait for the masters to start, it gets you in the mood for it doesn't it.

Bob, you should move yourself up north, it's usually around this time of year that we start getting more rain with warmer temps and nice lush grass returning and just right firmness of soil from here until winter :)

I'll probably just jinx him, however the best e/w bet for the Masters has to be Tim Clark, top 5 the last 4 years if I'm not mistaken, he always seems to play well at Augusta.
