Is your balls the correct ones?

Aye interesting chart.

Been playing with different balls for last 6-8 weeks to see which one suited me best.

Had been using Pro V1x but thought I'd try some others any way.

Tried in no particular order,

Taylor Made burner,
Wilson staff soft plus,
Callaway , all of the range,
Pro V1
And after all that have have come back to the Pro V1x's.

To keep the cost down buy used balls costing GBP 25.70 for 12. Order on line for 2day delivery and use a new one each round

If they are driver swing speeds then I should be using the Z-StarX rather than the standard Z-Star. Finding the Z-Star's pretty nice thus far though.

Still got a dozen PentaTP's to try and a box of ProV1 and also a box of ProV1x's. I'm hoping the balls I have left will last me the season!

Interesting chart though.

I guess I am, I like the AD333 but its a bit of a cop out, I think its stats fit just about everyone. I may start using the Z-Star if I can still get some cheep.

They're great balls IMHO. Especially if you can still get the 2010 ones for cheap.

Seems like £25, I think they were down to £19 at one point.

Edit, ops, ye £19... think I will get some on monday next.

I think it's the swing speed for the driver but I could be corrected.

Interested to see as most of the balls on the Market are aimed at the average golfer with early to mid 90's swing speeds.

My swingspeed is higher (104 with a 3 wood from my AG GM fitting last week) so the pro V1x is what I should be using according to the chart, and is what I've been using for the past 6 months.

Just thought this chart might be handy to a few people to see if you actually get the most out of your golf ball....

I've been massively misinformed! ProV1s for use by >20 handicappers?! I thought they were only for better players? Didn't stop me playing them mind! I only just found out my iron swing speed is 80 - 85 mph and driver 90, so should I be using lower compression balls or is that too simplistic an observation? Like playing Pro V1s with black numbers on, guessing these are 100, worth investing in some red ones?! Don't have a handicap yet, guessing it'll be mid-teens when I do. Any help is appreciated.

I think anyone can enjoy the Pro V around the greens but I think slow swingers dont compress the ball enough off the tee to make the most of it. It also can have negative effects on spin off the tee in the wrong hands.

Fair play, I don't suffer from a slice or a hook so spinning it into the trees isn't the problem, if I hit a bad tee shot you can actually hear the daisys to my left shrieking. To be honest I throw all my shots away on the green, but I plan on doing something about that before I start playing competitively... Cheers for the advice

Absolute tosh. How did they come to these results anyway. If you like a ball, get a sleeve of three and try it. If it doesn't perform for you try something else.

By buying sleeve after sleeve of different balls could prove a long and expensive road to find the balls best suited to your game.

This chart was just for reference so if people know various stats in their game then they can eliminate quite a few balls and not even bother trying and wasting time/money on different balls.

I don't know where the website got it's stats from but from the best of my knowledge it seems a fairly accurate assessment of which balls are better for bigger hitters and which are better for slower swingers of the club.
For example: I know slow swing speeds won't get the full compression out of a pro V1x ball or a Penta ball, but might out of a pro V1 as it's softer and reacts at a lesser compression rate.

I use nike pd soft but took out the z stars I got free with the centenary membership thingy... went back to the nikes after 9 holes and felt much more confident with irons and was straighter with my 3 wood

will give the z stars a try again on Sunday when I am taking the big dog (aka big slicer) out for its 1st bash :)
