Yes.

b. Stroke Play
Before a round or play-off on any day of a stroke play competition, a competitor must not practise on the competition course or test the surface of any putting green on the course by rolling a ball or roughening or scraping the surface.
When two or more rounds of a stroke play competition are to be played over consecutive days, a competitor must not practise between those rounds on any competition course remaining to be played, or test the surface of any putting green on such course by rolling a ball or roughening or scraping the surface.
Exception: Practice putting or chipping on or near the first teeing ground or any practice area before starting a round or play-off is permitted.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF RULE 7-1b:
Disqualification.

So can play either/both days, but not before the first round or between the rounds.

If you have a one round competition that can be played either Saturday or Sunday then I would think that the rules of the competition would give the answer. There is no reason, if the rules of the competition allow, a player to play both days but it is unusual for a major club comp to allow two shots at winning where others may only be able to play once.

The other problem with comps where you you can play either day is where the weather badly influences on of the days scores. My old club would split the comp to two separate ones but that's hard to do if a cup is at stake.

Ladies have had this (non) issue for years - with Alternative Day competitions.

As ChrisD posted, Conditions of Competition can be created, should it be deemed necessary, to cover cases where 'practice on the competition course' is deemed to be an issue.

In many clubs - even some 'premiere' ones - the hole locations aren't routinely changed over the weekend, so a bounce round on a Saturday would provide 'practice' for a competition on Sunday anyway!

Thanks Chris , i must admit i didnt know you could enter the same competition twice , every day is a learning day :D:D

I don't think either of us were saying you could enter the same competition twice. That would be most unusual. But 2 different competitions - in 2 rounds - over the same course is possibly less unusual than you might think!

Unless there is a specific Condition of Competition allowing it, playing in one stroke play competition in the morning and another in the afternoon is considered to be practicing on the course.

No. The first round would count but not the second.
CONGU Appendix P.[/QUOTE. Can you play the course say in the morning outwith a comp, then in the afternoon play again and submit a card for h/cap purposes.?

No. As per previous posts, that's considered Pactice on the course.

The other way around (h'cap morning; outwith afternoon) is fine though, as is Strokeplay AM, Matchplay PM.

Unless there is a specific Condition of Competition allowing it, playing in one stroke play competition in the morning and another in the afternoon is considered to be practicing on the course.

If you check the OP, there's an implication that the comps are across 2 days, not AM & PM.

So unless C ofCs forbid it, playing both days is fine. Certainly not against any Rule!
