Is over swinging a fault?

I play with a mate who has an "over-swing".

If I stand behind him and video his driver swing I can actually see the club head appear from behind his left shoulder!

I'm very envious of his flexibility, and he's a guy in his 60's!

He has two way misses, pulls and slices.

How much could be down to his over-swing?

You have to work backwards from impact.
Your friend has an out to in swing on the downswing.
This may be caused by the longer backswing but not necessarily, more likely to be a throw at the top when the upper body follows the lower body

I would say the reason for his pulls and slices is that he pulls the club inwards through impact (out to in) so when the face is square, he gets the pull and when its open he gets the slice.
Not caused by the long backswing though
