hi all, i have just took delivery of my first iPhone, the iPhone 5. As a long time android user, i decided to switch to apple as i use a macbook pro and iPad (for connectivity purposes alone it made sense).

which brings me back on topic, can anyone recommend any good apps that will help on the course etc? looking forward to trying a few out.:fore:

Golfshot GPS (I have the full version which is awesome but the free one is supposed to be not bad)

for off the course theres the GM short game app, ET, PGA, Golf channel apps aswell

I like the Swing by Swing app, there is free version, but for a small fee, you get a years subscription and it gives you a shed load of stats

the free version of golfshot is great for stats and course overview before you play but doesnt give you any GPS features on course which is where the full paid for version comes in.

best not mention iphones and comps

+1 for MyCaddiePro. It's free, offers distances to haazards, front middle back, measure drives, can flick to satellite image and see where you are standing and measure to any point and can record stats and scores for 4 people.
If you want other markers on your course you can add them via the internet. Awesome for those practice rounds.

What are the chances?!

Oobgolf is worth a mention. I should say, after I wrote my little review of that app I found an email from about a week ago in which they did actually contact me about my account issue, so some redemption there. It is a really good app, but I still think I might just prefer Swing by Swing. The advantage of me continuing with Oobgolf is that I can continue the automatic recording of my stats though. Oh what to do!

One of the things I like about swing by swing is that you can set it up to email chosen people a link that lets them see what course you are on, what hole and you current score, not sure about the last one, been I while since I used it.

But, when you go to Tenerife or somewhere sunny for your golfing hols, the app will automatically email your mates just so you can rub their noses in it, not that I think for one minute anyone here would do such a thing

I've got the Ping Putter app, it's free but the cradle is £22 :o it's pretty good, addictive and breaks down your putting stroke into component parts, you start fixating on shaft lean & tempo !!

also the golf channel app for info, coaching vids etc

I've got the rules of golf app also. but never opened it:o

You must have missed my masterclass on how to make an iTing Putter thing cradle for under £2 last week?! Buy cheap case, drill 4 holes, use 2 cable ties. done. (either cut them off after using, or find some re-usable cable ties)

I did see that, I'd already bought one. It looks a bit labour intensive to me. I'd rather spend the extra cash and sit on my arse and wait for the postman

good luck with the project though, you going into full production ??

tried the DIY approach to the PING craddle, two elastic bands didn't cut it, thought about using cable ties but it's to much faff to put them in place then cut them off every time it was going to be used.

My PING craddle cost me nothing anyway, it was a given to me as a present.
