I havent checked TBH mate .. but nobody reports anything like that to the committee in our place if im being honest , or at least ive never heard of it bn reported

On the occasions that I have witnessed this in comps I have written "player retired through injury" on the scorecard and then handed it in, let the committee decide what to do.

There was a large thread on here going on about intent and how that can change decisions, why can't the same clause be used for other areas?

there is but it's in the other manual!

this isn't a case for the rules of golf, it's a case for the rules of handicapping.

if the players intention (in entering and returning the score he did) is to manipulate his handicap then the handicap committee should act as they consider appropriate with regard to the handicap entry.

if there is no suggestion of deliberate manipulation, simply a withdrawal due to injury, the committee should take into account the players scoring up until the time he withdrew as well as the wider circumstances in considering whether there are grounds not to apply a 0.1 increase (the default situation). In considering the players probability of reaching buffer significant scope should be granted to the player.
