Anyone a member here or played it recently?
How did the club feel?
If youre a member, whats the ladies section like and does it integrate well or does it feel like a mens club?

Cheers

"It's not a members club it's a "country club" so the golf club side isn't traditional in that sense , the ladies section has about 4 members and I've never seen a lady enter the comps but they are welcome to."

Did he sack it off or did get sacked off? Thought I hadn't seen his life updates for a while.

Cheers m8. but does it feel like a blokey mens club and women get pushed aside with their booking and comps?
I ask because the club my daughter is currently at is like that. Women are a scond rate species there and their comps and bookings happily moved by the club to allow the men to play.
And yes, she was at Blackmoor, so she can handle herself ;)

If there are only 4 lady members I'd guess that there aren't any ladies specific comps...so, nothing to be pushed aside. I'd hazard that as many people join it for the "lifestyle facilities" (for want of a better phrase) as they do for the golf.

"No bookings are moved by the clubs for others

We get 2 weeks ahead and just book, board comps are drawn. Open to men and women. Normal comps anyone can enter but you book on with whoever

However there is no men's or ladies captains

Women are only rated off the yellow tees (former reds) tho and not off the whites of blacks so if they do enter comps their always off the yellows"

Ingrebourne is near me but I’ve never played, not for any specific reason I have just never had a chance, if I were looking for a decent ladies section near me I would enquire at the Heron Country Club (formerly South Essex golf course) it always seems to have a lot happening. The place is having a bit of a renaissance since Crown golf let it go, its a friendly place with a good vibe, and if you are into Padel it’s got a couple of courts too, although that is mad popular.

Cheers, Ive passed that on. Its a lot closer than where she is prepared to travel to, where I play in Kent and she lives in East Tilbury..;)

Thorndon Park is the best of the courses I've played in that neck of Essex.
Going off the summer green fees, that is probably a ltitle rich for her.
TBH, being the best course isn't the requirement, it's being to be able to integrate and get games as a women.
I have played where she's at right now, and it feel just like a mens club, an alpha male mens club.

She wants to be a member somewhere, that does have reasonable greens;)
She has been spoilt when playing at mine and where she is now.
I wouldn’t recommend Hartswood, it’s a nice place to play but I don’t know what the club scene is like.
The pair of you should just play 9 on The Heron a few times to get a feel for the place. You can just turn up and play The Vixon anytime.

Yes, we probably will as long as the Tunnel is clear for me ;)
Whats so amazing is that her husband (doesnt play) walked round my place with her earlier in the year as I was getting back into the game and he commented on how nice it felt there compared to where she is right now.
So currently on her list is Ingrebourne, The Burstead and Heron now. :)
