Played in the monthly medal today and other than a brain fart on one hole played the best golf I ever have.
Started well enough with bogey, bogey, par, par then on the 5th the wind took my tee shot OOB, three off the tee was a good shot up the left which left a good line into the green. Approach shot was good but the wind dragged it a little off the green to the right. Chipped on for 5 but lipped out TWICE to walk off with an 8. Two pars and a bogey followed but on the 9th a great tee shot over the dogleg was never found even though all of us expected us to with ease. Recovered to get a 6 and be 9 over for nine holes.
Back nine was so different. Consistency like I have never managed before with my card reading. 4(4), 4(3), 4(4), 4(3), 4(4), 3(3), 4(4), 6(5), 5(4) to come in 4 over for the back nine and 13 over for the round 5 under handicap. Other than the 3 putt on the 5th and not being able to buy a putt on any other hole which was annoying as I hit 9 GIR with 4 of those on par 3s. Really pleased with my game tee to green and when it did go wrong didn't get flustered or try to take it out on the ball making the problem worse. Hit some great recovery shots to get to the green in regulation.
One of the guys out in the group in front shot the same nett score as me but we worked it out and I beat him on countback. Hoping for a small cut to boot.
