I'm Jim Furyk (only rubbish)

After a successful first lesson which sorted out my grip, I had a video lesson today and what an eye opener it was. Hit a dozen or so shots into the net and then casually strolled over to the screen so the pro could compliment me on my "Big Ernie" style swing.

Rather confusingly, there was a guy on the screen at least a stone heavier than me, with much less hair who seemed to be doing a Jim Furyk impression. It reminded me of writing my name in the sky with a sparkler when I was a kid, truly all over the place, more figure eights than 2 fat ladies.

If anybody needs me, I'll be at the range practicing the drills he gave me for a month or so, complete swing rebuild here we come.

The first video lesson is always a shock. You are not alone. I always look like I am staring into a very deep hole, trying to estimate how long it would take a pebble to hit the bottom.

I had the very epitomy of Furyks swing along with a Montyesque high finish. Add in my lateral head movement and reverse pivot and tis amazing I ever hit the ball at all and usually forward (and sometimes straight). My pro has spent a number of hours getting my swing to be a much better turn and even though the results are still xxx rated and not for the pureist I know what the faults are now so can fix them easier and it has become something that borders on reliable and repeatable. Take heart, work on the drills your pro has given you and hopefully you'll see the improvements pretty soon

No worries Colin. My swing on Video makes my toes curl .
It not so much the obvious rubbish elements, just the whole "looks so unlike a proper swing" that gets me down.
I guess it was all upright and you didn't realise?....harsh but effective learning, so well worth it!
