Played in the Seniors Open at Chartham Park yesterday, teams of 3 with the best two scores (stableford) to count. After a very mediocre front 9 where we only scored 36 points (including a team blob on the notorious 6th hole where we all cocked up) we thought we'd blown our chances. I wasn't playing particularly well and had had a terrible individual score, but then something clicked at the 9th hole and I started to play some of the best golf I've played for Donkeys. Went 3 points, 2, 1, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2 to finish with 25 points off the closing 10 holes. Well chuffed, and we finished in 2nd place with a 48 back 9 total, beaten by one point. How we rued that 6th hole. Even taking one point on it would have seen us win on countback as the winners had scored 40/45. What pleased me was that my 25 points had all been scored "properly" with no jammy long putts or chip ins helping out.
Looks like I'm back (until the next game at least!!).
:D:D:D

Well played:thup:

Well done old chap.

I too played fab on our away trip over the weekend- so if we can both cling on until Forest Pines then we can maybe give them youngsters a right good whoopin this year.

That was a lovely long write up and congrats me man.

er you came second, so technically although it's not a golfing term, your back ish. 😁

Played in a betterball match at Bearwood yesterday.
I don't think I got my putter out until the 5th, and then it was only to throw it so that I didn't feel left out.....

I saw Slasher mention it, who else played and what the result?

Richard and I took on Slasher and Anthony (TXL) trying to avenge their dog licence drubbing of us the last time we met up.
It was a bit tighter this time around, nip and tuck for most of it, but they went two up with four to play and despite Richards best efforts we couldn't get it back.
The best two balls I hit all day was when I accidentally trod on a rake.

Thought we had them after 12 when we got back to all square, then Slasher holes a monster putt from off the green on 13 for a birdie. The putt was longer than his tee shot on the 14th.

Highlight was Slashers triple hit (at least) on the 15th. The last hit knocked it over a bunker to about five feet. Sheer class. He also though there was no penalty and he had a putt for a win.:ooo:
