I'm about to be Clause 23'd...!

Who is "having a dig"?

I, and other posters, have merely been drawing attention to the correct procedures involved in applying the rules of the handicapping system. Nobody is having a dig at anyone who is keen to see his handicap reduced.

without getting into the interpretation of the rules in question, my point would be that if the handicap reduction is wrong, then someone needs to put it to EGU/CONGU that the rules require changing to make it right.. The vast majority of players want theire h'cap to be reduced legitimately. We need to be doing everything we can to ensure that it happens when it is right to do so..

Oh, and TBH, i haven't seen any comments that appear to be having a "dig". merely some informed opinion from someone who knows more about the rules than most on here.. we should appreciate the advice when it is genuinely offered..

To my mind, playing 7 qualifiers in a year can't be construed as being "regular".....
Regular surely must mean putting somewhere in the region of 20 cards in throughout the year - or twice a month, that sort of thing.

On another forum topic, you say you play a fiercely competitive game every Friday. Why not play it as a Supplementary? None of my business I know, you may be playing matchplay. But, if you play Stableford or Strokeplay and it's intense, then the results are going to be a true reflection of your playing ability and submitting Supplementaries would be the best way of getting your handicap lower.

May well start doing that.
If you remember my moan from a month or 2 back, the last guy categorically stated that he would not accept supplementaries unless a handicap was inactive - wrong I know but that's why none of these cards went in.

Yes - I remember you saying that he was flouting the rules on Supplementaries and nobody was challenging him. Keep us posted on how things go.

Have the same problem. Was playing much better than my handicap so enquired about supplementary cards and was told to put 3 in together. Put in 3 - 79, 83 and 85 off a 23 handicap and never got cut.

When I enquired was told the same, they would only be used if I hadn't entered enough qualifiers.

Seems to have been one person at Aylesbury Park. When you get someone like that in a position of power, you have to arm yourself with the rules of the game, challenge him, and be prepared to go over his head.

Just out of idle interest (= nosiness), I've just had a look at the Aylesbury Park website. There doesn't seem to be any mention of committee members, handicap secretary etc..
One astonishing thing I did find:

"For just £25 (plus the cost of appropriate green fees) you can obtain an official English Golf Union Handicap.
Check with Damian or Will at the Club for further details and an application form
This offer is for non-members"

Non-members? To have an official CONGU handicap, you have to be a member of an affiliated club. What other rules do they ignore at Aylesbury Park?

Pass. But I'm not sure I want to dig to deeply, I might get extremely depressed........

By the way, neither of those 2 are there anymore.

Yeah - until HM Govt build a bloody great High Speed Railway line through it. We're a bit like the club in GM this month. It's going to slice through the course.

That's one way of putting it.
Apparently the final decision is due in December. If it gets the go-ahead I can see the owners just stopping all investment in the club, the whole thing will start on a very slippery downhill slope - even though it'll be years before the track gets to us.
That's when it'll be time to find a new club.
