A well-known electric trolley manufacturer
lost a sale today for the sake of a free bag
it was free up until dec 31 2008

recession what recession

Were you buying direct from Powakaddy then?

GoKart

OOOO That will put the cat amongst the pigeons! Negative feedback for go-kart! That said if the offer was for a limited time you can't really complain. And as for the credit crunch point maybe because of this they would rather sell the bag for £50 or whatever rather than giving it to you for free? Someone will eventually buy it!

It's not ideal but I think your disappointment falls in the fact that you expected so much from them as a company following reports on here about their customer service and they didn't fulfill what you wanted / expected by declining your request for a free bag.

I know what you're saying Mansell but be reasonable. You are 5 weeks outside the offer date and although they would have made money selling you a trolley, they'd have lost all that giving you the bag.

I don't think its wrong for them to refuse. An offer lasts for a set time to try to get people to buy in that timeframe, not 5 weeks later.

Can't answer then - if it was Powakaddy I had an answer but I would imagine (and probably wrongly) that the loss leader for Christmas has worked as they wanted and are going back to normal profit margins....

To be perfectly honest with you mate you where over a month late thats not there fault that is there policy. Its your fault for coming too late so there is no use moaning about it to be honest because there a big rich company and your just one man. :(

The motorised trolley is an asset on the company books, promotions are always factored in to any accounting and its usual for this to enable moving on old stock, new stock however may have cost more to produce and in order to hold down prices for regular sales the 'NO to extras', is commonplace. If the profit margin of new stock is reduced or eliminated by carrying over promotions just to get a sale, then that is risky business. In my view, if you want something, haggle, if there is no haggle benefit, buy it or leave it, dont condem it.

I have to agree that you were way too late and I can't see how a company can reasonably make an exception for one and not another. If they did it for you and someone got wind of it they would have to honour other requests. I'm sorry to say it but I don't think you really have anything to complain about.

I'd be inclined to look at it the other way...
You lost the chance to purchase one of the best electric trolleys on the market, with possibly the best back up service of ANY company, for the sake of a £22.00 bag.

The free bag offer was well documented, both on here, and on the GoKart website. My own decision to buy the trolley was based on reports I had read on it, and the glowing praise Gokart had received for their back up service. The free bag was a bonus, and luckily for me my decision to buy fell within the time scale of the offer. Would I have still bought the trolley had the offer not been on? You bet I would. I've said it before (and I'll no doubt say it again ;)).....the GoKart is the best value for money golf related item I have bought in all my time playing this stupid game.
Sorry Mansell, I personally think you are cutting off your nose to spite your face mate.
Rob

I have been planning to buy a GoKart since the end of last year, after reading reports and feedback on here ala Smiffy. I was aware of the free bag offer, but was tied into finances and new I couldn't buy until end Jan. I ordered my GoKart on Friday, knew I was way past the free bag offer, so didn't even think about asking. I think you're OK to chance to your arm, with the conversations I've had with them, I'm sure that a day or two past the deadline they'd still have given you the offer but I don't think you can complain if they say no this far past the deal deadline.

I agree with Smiffy, think it is actually you who are losing out if you don't purchase. My GoKart turned up yesterday morning, have only unpacked it in the lounge, but it looks the dogs danglies, am hoping the weather is OK to take it out as planned on Saturday.

Come on Dave
it's only £19 quid for the bag and with all the positive feed back you hear about gokart I wouldn't go elsewhere.

Don't have the cash at the mo but when I buy an electric I wont be going anywhere else.

I do. I carry my bag because I cant be bothered with all the messing around that comes with a trolley. I like the excercise too.

If you dont ask you dont get, quite right but, dont cut off your nose to spite ya face. If you really wanted the trolley, dont turn it down for the sake of a £19 bag, I am sure you can afford it if you can afford the trolley.

I got a free bag with my GoKart to compensate for a seven day delay in delivery caused by a component delay. I did not use it at first because it was going to be yet more hassle setting up and packing up but in the recent wet weather it has been very useful and quite easy to work with.
