Lagos in Portugal for me, we have been holidaying there for over thirty years and love the place. Saying that, we live five minutes from the sea, our children and grandchildren are close by so the chances of us moving are extremely low.

I've never been into travelling, it doesn't interest me. Have been on a few holidays, mostly prompted by the wife. I don't like anywhere too hot (over 30°c). Overall I value the people I'm with much higher than the place I'm in. So I could pick somewhere with the appropriate climate, golf courses, nice bars - but if all my mates were still back in England then it would be pointless.

Southern Spain, Florida or one of the smaller Greek islands. Went to a place called Agistri years ago and loved the peace, quiet and great food. Oh, and the weather - I am finding the lousy weather we have here every winter increasingly hard to put up with.

Scotland in summer for the golf/pals

Cyprus Oct-Mar for sun, beer, and no doubt winter golf.

Need a much better retirement package than I have now though

My screensaver came up as the Benagil Caves so always wondered where that was - looks nice.

It's a very pleasant small town west of Portimao, relatively unchanged over the years. We stay on the Boavista Golf Resort with its interesting course. Not far from Palmares, Penina and Espiche where we take advantage of the twilight deals.

Went to Monopoli in 2019 for 10 days, loved it. Lecce another highlight.

Stayed just outside Martina Franca for two weeks, don’t think we heard another English voice. Drove all over, found the locals very receptive to my pidgin Italian and generally fell in love with the place. Will be returning next year.

Think we were cut from the same cloth. Not really one for travelling although was far more inclined in my late teens and early twenties. When we retire, the plan is to find somewhere nice to retire too. We want amenities so won't be out in the sticks somewhere, access to a golf course for me and HID would like open spaces to walk in, and places to visit etc. With no siblings and eventually no parents (hers) we have two choices to up sticks and move somewhere and almost start again making friends or to stay locally, but maybe a nicer area, and keep the friendships we've built up over the years. Personally I am pretty easy either way as I am pretty gregarious and so would start in a local pub or golf club to start new friendships whereas HID is more introverted until she gets to know someone. Not a decision to be made for a while but the plan is to only do it once when we retire so need to make sure it's the right choice

Add Alberobello to the list. I found pretty much everywhere below Naples to be worth a visit. Amalfi coast is touristy and expensive but worth a visit. Further south is amazing.

Yes loved it trulli.?

Didn’t find much on the Taranto coast to go back to but the Adriatic side of the heel is amazing.
