If only I'd putted half decently....

Played in a qualifier Stableford today and was pleased to score 39 points and, with CSS at 73 when I left, if it stays that way I should see a 0.8 cut to 10.8, 11 playing for the first time, BUT..

If I could have putted I'd have made a seriously good score. There were at least 6 putts from around 4 feet that I missed and one from inside three feet that horseshoed out, I had 35 putts in all including five 3-putts!

It usually takes me a while to get used to playing the main greens again after playing on the temps over winter and with some of the slopes we've got putting is never easy but I could have easily scored 42 or more today. (Leading score was 42 when I left and I was second.)

Decent round and a good cut - not a bad days golf in my book.

Always a bit raw when you see what could have been but in some ways you know that there is more to come so will be confident that you can go lower on a day when they drop.

Looks like single figures is just round the corner:D

Nice going Crow. Alway frustrating when shots are left out there but a cut is a cut

In the first medal I played this year I struggled with the short ones. Gimmes over the winter meant that I'd not holed a putt from close range for months! Do you think that may have been the case with you?

Thanks HS and Achilles. I don't think it was the fact that I'd not holed short ones for a while as we normally hole out even in the winter, it's just getting used to the main greens again as the slopes are so much more severe than on our temps.

Judging the pace of the longer ones is something I have been missing though!
