If Bury/Bolton are expelled - what happens?

I know that if one or both are expelled, then the number of teams relegated from League 1 will be reduced accordingly. And four promotions from League 2 maintained so that League 1 is back to full complement next season. But that would leave League 2 short unless a similar arrangement is done with League 2 & the National League. So anyone one know how far down the league pyramid such changes will/might be necessary?

The lower leagues all get to push on one extra at the end of the season, or so I read.
I suspect both clubs will resurface but dropped into a lower league so everyone above the, moves up effectively.

This is what I understand - but how far down the chain of leagues do they go (or need to)?? When there was the ruckus over Wimbledon/MK Don's, the new AFC started out in the 9th tier of football - as did Darlington when they got chucked out. But technically they were both new clubs.

I thought it was down to percieved probable standard and level of facilities.

One less relegation spot this year for league one and so when four come up from league 2 there will be the right number in league 1 for 2020/21 season and only one team down from league 2 and two coming up from National League

On the Bury situ it seems now only three teams will be relegated instead of four from their league, it's a pretty sad day and I suspect Bolton will be following shortly.

It won't happen as it would be a bit pointless seeing as they'd have to be expelled once Scotland gained independence...

No because, in FIFA's eyes, Scotland is independent and the decision has already been made that approval will not be given to any future cases of cross-border entry into Leagues.
