used an iPhone since it came out and had all the iPhone issues, especially bleeeding iTunes issues with PC's and not being able to view internet content as they dont support Flash etc

Just saw Sony announce this as coming out at the same time as the iPhone 5, looks an iPhone beater to me, firmly on my radar when its launched.

Being a anorak when it comes to looking up the specs and reviews before I get something I narrowed it down to the Sony 'v' iphone. I got my Sony Xperia U a couple of weeks back... very impressed.

I get no choice, White Iphone is the standard issue for work.... I do love it though! The Sony looks good.

If Flash is a concern then I wouldn't bother.

Being replaced by HTML5 on all devices over the next few months.

Android won't be supporting Flash past 4.1 either.

Looks like a winner that new Sony, i'm due an upgrade in November so looking at phones at the moment and have to say bored of the iPhone now.

Though being a technotard, this afternoon I helped my lad with set up of his new iPHone 4s - I applied the plastic protective film on the screen, as he being a practotard (i.e. my new word for someone unable to do anything of any practical use and unwilling to learn - viz - all teenagers it seems) could not work out how to do so - sigh.

Funny that. All the RG's are moving away from Sony as fast as possible. I've gone Samsung and the missus iPhone.

No doubt Apple will find a way of suing Sony too!

It's possible. Apple and Google are already in talks how to "cool down" the current wars. I've just updated my tablet to I.C.S.

and it seems nobody can get away from the fact that there's a lot of copying going on across the platforms.

Samsung messed up by not even trying to hide (internally of course) their intention to base ideas on things similar to Apple. There is a possibility they might rethink their strategy (with regard to OSs) in mobile market. It would be a sad day. However, they can afford $1 bn.

"Samsung released the following statement after the verdict was delivered:
Today's verdict should not be viewed as a win for Apple, but as a loss for the American consumer. It will lead to fewer choices, less innovation, and potentially higher prices. It is unfortunate that patent law can be manipulated to give one company a monopoly over rectangles with rounded corners, or technology that is being improved every day by Samsung and other companies. Consumers have the right to choices, and they know what they are buying when they purchase Samsung products. This is not the final word in this case or in battles being waged in courts and tribunals around the world, some of which have already rejected many of Apple's claims. Samsung will continue to innovate and offer choices for the consumer."
