I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Just played the front 9 this morning tee’d off at 8am, clubs were back in the car and headed home by 935am 😍.

Hit the ball well again with driver and irons, but still Couldn’t stop a ball on the green, it’s making scoring a nightmare. I was +4 gross and I putted well, you just can’t get near a hole even with lag putts when you think they’re going to stop they pick up speed and go a good 6-8ft past. I’m Starting to realise how @Orikoru feels on his course 😂

They’re going to see some big scores in this weekends comp, the greens need watering because they’re almost unplayable for everyone, low guys can’t get a wedge to stop so, short hitters have no chance of stopping the ball with longer clubs, then chipping back on you have a such a small margin for error.

Definitely a game of 2 halves today...
Starting on the 10th I rattled off 20 points by the turn, in control, swinging well.....
And then the 2nd 9 happened....5 x 1 point holes interspersed with 4 x 2 pointers
Either couldn't get ball close enough to the hole or couldn't hole the putts when I did get it close enough..
Stupid game

I played yesterday on our 9 hole course which had had the greens tined the day before.
Worst game in many years, so many missed putts and could not get rid of the pushes, 3 balls lost.

I was not the only one, only 3 players out of 15 broke 30 points with the best being just 33 and I was not the worst in my group with just 25 points.

Played Gaudet Luce today. Place was rock hard and bouncy. Greens were true and ran well, although I think the Space Shuttle landing on them wouldn't have left a pitch mark!😁

Course us a bit fiddly for my taste to be honest. But I bet it's better on second sight.

Played with some good guys, so a fun day. Another course ticked off

4BBB matchplay today....not a knockout but a Seniors friendly match away at The Essex. My partner was getting 14 shots and our opponents 5 and 13.

Lost the first to a nett birdie before halving the next 5 holes, won 2 on the bounce to go 1 up after 8, extended the lead to 2up on the 12th before giving the 13th back. Won 15 to put us 2 up and closed the game out on 17 to win 3&1.

Looking at the scores after the game and the players we played, it appears that the two team captains used the handicap indexes at the time of agreeing the pairings last week. In the interim period, both of our opponents played qualifying comps that reduced their index...resulting effect of using their old handicaps was that our opponents actually got 1 and 2 shots more than they should have!!

As a team though we gave our opponents a bit of a going over, winning 7.5 - 0.5

It's always a problem for Greenkeepers in cold dry spell which we've got at the moment, more heat forecast for the weekend so hopefully soon your greens will become more receptive.
Article above explains it quite well
