I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Played Addington Palace today, glorious weather and the course was lovely. Shot 94 gross. Trialled it out as a potential to become a member.

Decisions! Pros and cons to the two clubs I’m considering joining.

one of our majors today, I started nicely, parred the first and just missed my par on the 2nd, just short of the par 5 3rd in 3 and then 2 duffed chips and 3 putts later carded an 8, i also had 8s on 7th, 11th and 17th. i am so erratic at the moment, putting was a little better though.

Singles ko match yesterday. Haven’t been in the best of health since getting back from the Far East on Friday, combination of the runs and jet lag.

Thought seriously about dropping out and conceding the tie, but decided to take a couple of Imodium and give it a go.

Didn’t give myself much of a chance in the circumstances, but got off to a flyer - par, birdie to be 2 up after 2. We both played well thereafter, I got to 3 up after 12, but my opponent kept chipping away as I got a bit fatigued mentally and physically, and got back to all square after 17.

Was fearing the worst, however out of nowhere my opponent hit his worst drive of the day, had to play 3 off the tee, carved his 4th into the trees, and conceded.

It was a cracking match, glad to have won, however fortuitously.

(The Imodium worked as well 🙏 )

Our first shield match of the year today at Bolton Old Links, despite an horrendous start over the first 3 holes I played well for the rest of the round and delighted to win my match 2&1 after giving 8 shots, the team also won so it was a great start.
However the main talking point of the day was the fact the there was an English school's tournament being played before us, 80 teenagers playing in 4 balls and they were not quick, there were also 2 members fourballs squeeze in after the kids but before us. The tee times were running about 20 minutes late to start with and it was very slow. the course is quite high up and we were all freezing by the time we had finished 5 hours later! It was great to see so many boys and girls playing but I really don't know why the club had booked our match of 5 singles on the same day as the schools competition, the team from BOL were very apologetic.

Back down to earth with a bump.

Pairs knockout match, we were getting 6 shots off one of our opponents, nowt off the other. They played out of their skins, any time one of them was struggling on a hole, his partner would hit an exceptional shot. They barely missed a putt as well, rattling them in from all over the place. 12 and 18 handicappers, I reckon they must have been level par at worst yesterday.

We played poorly by comparison, and got absolutely steamrollered, losing 7&6.

Got another pairs knockout tomorrow, hopefully we can do a bit better then.

Managed to get a rare Monday evening out, hopefully more to come as my son is getting more respite time, new session that is 2.5 hours on a Monday evening during term time.

Started terribly as I barely made the tee time, had to tighten my shoes on the tee as I rushed from the car to the tee box with them open. Was 5 over after 5 but played the next 13 in 1 over but yet again I had 2 doubles which are just killing me at the moment. Switch around in golf standard as well, was pretty crap off the tee while my short game and putting was great, had numerous tap in pars after chipping it close from just off the green.

Got a knockout doubles match on Wednesday and was tempted to put a card in last night to knock the best round of my life out of my scores which would have given me a 0.7 raise but didn't want to look desperate to win a match.
