I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Not the best score today, a few lip outs and some poor direction with the driver. But to be honest there was some good stuff and I was trying the Autoflex in my driver.
Basically the distance off the tee was increased with autoflex. Which surprised me! However to get the ball to move and hit shapes it needs a bit of work. I got the fade working on the last 5 holes where it is required. I don’t think I need to do much for the draw and should just be confident to aim down the middle.
So it will stay in the bag !
I see it will definitely improve my score going forward. No issues with spin or flight so really positive.

Drove it OK but a couple of drives that I didn't quite catch cost me 2 shots as I ended up in ditch and in a lone gorse bush which I should have cleared. Irons were poor, missed a lot of greens or didn't hit it close. Chipping was excellent, knocked everything close. Putting was garbage, missed 2 from within 3 foot and a couple in the 5-6 foot range which gave me a bang average +7 for 30 points.

4BBB Stableford today. 1st club competition of the year. Due to the previous wet weather we are still off the foreword tees which means I get zero shots. We had 43 points and are currently in joint 5th place. 4 scores of 44 leading. Shot level myself with two birdies and two bogeys. Both bogeys were the result of 3 putts😠. Didn’t affect our score though as my partner made pars there. Highlight was a 50 yard hole out for birdie having had to layup my second shot after carving the tee shot into the trees.

First time playing in what feels like a very long time, think it’s my first round this year. Played at “The Hamphire Golf Club” with the BiL and FiL, not a course I’ve played before, they have and it was chosen as its dry.

Definitely rusty on the front 9, no real errors and ended up 8 over gross. Much better in the back 9, especially with driver off the tee, so gave myself opportunities to hit nice shots into the greens. Back 9 score of 1 over for a 9 over total. Given I haven’t played in months and a new course I was very happy with that.

Course wasn’t anything special, but it was dry so a big bonus there. Greens were actually surprisingly tricky, slopy greens with some tricky pin placements. Would be interested to see what it’s like in the summer

Just been up to play a few holes...my heel struggled on Friday, the Plantar fasciitis is on the way out but it's not happy about it..
To be fair, I played 9 on Thursday morning and the 18 on Friday...possibly a little too much too soon as it was killing me when we finished.
So I thought I'd play 5 today and see how the 18 goes tomorrow.....
Rest, ice etc etc is required but there's not much chance of the first one happening.....trying to teach the PF that it's time to bugger off and pain someone else....
Didn't play too badly on the 5 holes..1 over I think..

Entered the medal today. Had no confidence whatsoever after struggling recently, but I needed to get my comp count up since we need 8 minimum over the last 12 months, and I was as about to lose one from a year ago.

Needn't have worried, I absolutely smashed it. 😂 No double bogeys, just 11 pars and 7 bogeys for a 75, which is net two under handicap. It beats my previous best ever round at my home course by a shot. I've glanced at the leaderboard and I'm currently leading, but of course people could be entering scores this afternoon as well.

Just did everything well. Driving was excellent, never remotely in trouble. If I did miss a fairway I just took the sensible route out and made my bogey every time. Putting was superb, no three-putts, getting nicely dialled in with the pencil grip. In medal conditions that grip just feels so square for knocking in those three-foot teasers.

Beat my mate in the match as well after I hadn't won in the last three so that was nice. He actually played really well too and we were all square with two holes to go, but I won both for a 2 up victory.

Panic over, golf is lovely again! 😍

What do you need 8 comps for over the last 12 months ?

To be eligible to win board comps you need to have 8 competition cards on your record from the last 12 months. Not that I'm going to win any board comps but it's nice to pretend it's at least possible. 😂

You also need it to enter match play knockouts I think.

I was beaten by one player in the afternoon so 2nd place for me. Ah well. Should be 10.something in the morning though!

I played at Crosland Heath, near Huddersfield today in a society, having been playing off mats for that last 4 months, playing of grass was a challenge. My game was mixed and I was very erratic with my shots of the grass, throwing away good positions on several holes. The course was really nice, the features are par 3s which are played over quarries, I actually played these pretty well.
It was good to get a full 18 holes off grass under my belt as it is just over 2 weeks to the start of the season.
