I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

Got out for the Wednesday competition had a good round of 76, still room to improve last few holes were a not so good. Should see a HCP improvement.
The spin issue with the driver was non existent.. I was using a Srixon AD333 today. Green performance was hop and stop and chipping was controlled.. so looks like this was the ball for today. Maybe the premium stuff will be better in summer.

Despite the issues with the physio yesterday I braved a range session started really well with several shanks! Couldn’t get the turn I needed with the shoulders tried a few drills even with the towel drill to keep connected and limit arm swing it was worse I couldn’t get any sort of connection with the ball . I was combining absolute lack of shoulder turn with early extension it was a combo to behold what with heel strikes, shanks and no distance.

Ended up trying to maintain centred or “stacked” over the ball and slightly favouring the left side like I do with pitching and started to get some good contact, then added in more tilt on the shoulders rather than turn, suddenly I could hit the ball again and wasn’t feeling pain. Was even able to hit long irons crisply and some decent drivers flushed out the middle of the face, trackman even had my swing and ball speeds up in my normal range. It’s left me with a dilemma could I make this a more functional and repeatable swing to play pain free especially whilst I’m still having the shoulder sorted but the that means going down that swing change road nobody likes to talk about and hasn’t been fashionable for years 🤔.

Physio again tomorrow so will see how it is after that then I can hopefully head to the clubs practice ground Saturday and see where we’re at if I can swing normally or if I have to go down that road I hope I don’t as was hoping to hit the ground running this season not have another year of transition and reworking the swing….

Solo 9 first thing today, played 2 or 3 balls on each shot..
Short game was absolute fire when I missed a green and when I hit one the putter felt likewise..
No boogers and a chip in birdie...
Happy camper..

Played mine yesterday afternoon and am really pleased that I am still striking it so well.

I made a minor tweak in my set up with the driver towards the back end of last season, choking down the grip about an inch and dropping my hands slightly at address, and the difference in both accuracy and consistency has been breathtaking. My driving has always been my Achilles heel, but I am now hitting way more fairways.

All of which means, when the weather and course conditions improve, I’ll return to hitting it like an arse. Because that’s how golf works.

Okay, I know it's been more than 30 years, but does that mean I have to play that badly now?

I only started playing golf again last year, so my handicap is only 54, but I just don't see any progress.

The last round on Wednesday was particularly frustrating: for every decent shot, there are at least five terrible ones (usually right after)! 🤬

No, I'm not going to give up.

But sometimes it's difficult to motivate myself...! 🤷‍♀️

I hit the ball well today tee to green but my goodness, after a big improvement in my putting recently it was as bad as it could be 3 putts on 3 and 4 a 5 putt on 6 all after being on the green in regulation missed a 2 footer for par on 7 after a nice chip and then had a 4 putt on the 11th. I still finished up only 1 point off level 2s.

GK ironed the greens this morning. It made them look so much better, but OMG watched balls slide past the hole and just keep on rolling. Started par par bogey par bogey. Then after a great drive attempted a hero shot to the green. Lost the ball. The toughest was on a heavilly sloped green (front to back) the pin is cut at the top. I was below the hole for two. I putted up beyond the hole and watched in disbelief as it rolled back 150cm. Putted up again. Missed. The ball rolled even further back! Luckilly, I got that one in. I'd given up and just knocked the ball in the general direction and it went in.

I don't know what that means without converting it to English! ;)

A steady 39 points today and not a sniff of coming anywhere near the money. Some of my golf was sublime, a couple of shots, pure rammel. After a very quiet week weather wise in a sense of being dry, the greens are starting to get a little quicker and a lot more turn.
Another enjoyable day on the course, however another round with one of the slowest players in our fuddle 🫣

Careful you’ll get an infraction for swearing on the forum!

I jest but I have been looking at it today by chance as I did some movements with the physio today on shoulder movement. Normal swing movement for me was causing discomfort and twinges. However in external rotation he had me getting the elbow more underneath the shoulder to help keep it closer to the body and give me freer movement. So did some googling after the appointment on that movement relating it to golf, From what I’ve read this is prescribed in S&T as part of “their swing” fundamentals, and trying this evening tilting the shoulders does allow me to get in that position and pain free 🤔

So though whilst swearing you may be onto something, but it’s not something I’ve ever really looked into or ever considered as I’ve always been very much a feel player with fairly natural lazy swing. But I do play pitch shots in a very stacked way so perhaps it’s something I could do.

I’m off down the rabbit hole now of YouTube and reading to see if it could
Work and protect my shoulder.
