I played today and..(Rolling) -originally created by JohnnyDee

On the plus side, although they were slow they were good players, when there's other groups with caddies there's Americans which usually means that balls are being sprayed around, i ended up 3 virtually new ProV1x's to the good thanks to a walk down through the rough to the right of the 14th and I've gone up by 0.5 to 7.2 so not all bad !
Medal today at Dunbar, wind not as bad as yesterday but still probably around 15 -16 mph, one of these meh rounds, didn't play great, didn't play bad, eventually signed for an 80 less 9 Net 71 level par, will probably come back down 0.1 after a 0.5 increase yesterday

Yesterday, not today, but... Sunningdale. Wow.

Old then lunch, then New. That Old Course front nine is the best stretch of golf course I have ever experienced. Something hugely special. The New is an absolute beast, either in the fairway or completely dead.

Highlights easily the stretch from the 4th green to the 7th tee on the Old, 10th on the New. And of course, 17 and 18 on the old, walking up to this view. Played alright. don't care. what a day! IMG_1173.jpeg

Had a great day yesterday at Cottesmore in the Pro-am. Me, my son and his uncle came in first with 91 points (Best 2 from 4). I had my best round in 14 attempts at Cottesmore with a 77 off 6, The son struggled off the back tees, but had a precious 4 for 4 and a couple of 5 for 3s amongst his many 1 points and blobs. The uncle is a member there and shot 83 of 12. We won by one point mainly thanks to our Pro's 5 birdies and a truly fantastic eagle on the par 5 18th.
The three of us each won a brand new Taylor Made Spider Tour X putter (looks like my 12 year old Odyssey Versa will have to take a well earned rest)

Well I hit it pretty well today in what was a fairly strong wind, a couple over for the front 9 and then played holes 10 to 14, by some considerable distance the toughest part of the course in a West wind, in par, bogey, bogey, par bogey so 5 over after 14. Then we caught up with 4 Americans and it was like hitting a brick wall, the 16th tee sits directly behind the 15th green and its curtesy to wait until they tee off before playing our 2nds, we waited for 12 minutes, 10 minutes on the 16th tee and even longer on the 17th, all momentum gone and stumbled to an 84 although it will be an 82 for h'cap purposes. Holes 15 to 18 took us 10 minutes less to play than the front nine. It really was beyond a joke, I don't think they have any concept of etiquette, so annoying 🙄
Was told by the Pro in the shop at Dunbar that one of the guys who held us up so dramatically last night is playing today in the Scottish Open, I suppose I can let them off now as there are some mitigating circumstances 😆
Anyway he's called Andrew Novak and is currently 126th at +3 after 15, hope I haven't jinxed the guy too much with my negative vibes 🤔

medal today, I played pretty well front nine but let down by putting, Missed a short one on the first and a couple of 3 putts where I was over positive, took 43 which was only 1 over H/C, disaster struck on the 11th, while looking for my playing partners ball I didn't notice my trolley rolling away, down into a deep ditch, the girl I was playing with tried to pull my bag up and pulled a muscle, I went round the other side bot lost my footing and went flying, we finally managed to get the bag and trolley out but as I was putting the bag on the trolley it set off again and all my clubs went back into the ditch, I felt something in my back and we decided to call it a day! Sitting at home now with a sore arm. A not very auspicious day.

4bbb seniors open at Whitley Bay today. A cracker 😊. Really good course, interesting holes, big greens, interesting greens, a good mix of lengths, all in perfect condition. What's not to like 😊.

Drove the ball well on all bar 2 holes. Handy because it's a course that rewards accuracy over length. New, but very old, 4 wood off the fairway worked superbly. Irons were solid. I even had the experience of over hitting the green a couple of times because I absolutely hit it sweet 😍. If only that was a regular thing.

The key to all of the above, slowing my swing down, get my timing right. Oh to do that more often, what a joy.

Putting was largely good, let down only a few times where I got my pacing wrong.

We ended with 40 points, top third I believe. Very happy 😊

Extremely hot down in the south today, glad i didn't play. Playing tomorrow then a 36 hole scratch on Saturday, fortunately the forecast is a few degrees cooler.

12 holes this evening.. missed some short putts 🤯 which was annoying. Will do short practice tomorrow. But generally everything feels positive and I need to be more confident to just relax my grip and let it happen.. with the driver it’s just a case of swing with commitment.

Good for you!!

Nothing - or very little - I think beats the 18 or so minutes it takes to enjoy the view, the walk and the holes on the 17th and 18th of the Old

For a single shot though, the second shot into the 7th is the most beautiful place I think I’ve enjoyed on a golf course

Played in a little social comp tonight, I ended up with 30 points off 7 handicap, not too bad. Lost a ball on the 18th when I was expecting it to be in play. Putting is absolutely on point right now with the square 2 square.

The lady that won was playing off 54 and got 50 points with 2 blobs 😂

We were there as well.

My driving was dreadful, but despite that, I managed to birdie both the par 5s on the front 9. 23 points at the turn with me contributing most of them, but the bad driving caught up with me on the back 9, and I fell off the proverbial cliff. Fortunately my PP was rock solid, and we ended up with 41.

Course was in decent nick, but not as good as our place has been this summer (I may be biased). Greens were surprisingly slow.

Nice day out, really enjoyed it.

Maybe if he sped up he’d play better :ROFLMAO:

Told the wife I’d be an hour today only to get stuck behind the same guy for 9 holes. Waiting at least 5 minutes on every tee box. Ended up on the same tee box several times. Expected him to say play through but nope. Didnt say a thing. Just had to stand there and watch him hack it round, throw his clubs, drink, smoke grass, and play *** golf.

The wee jakey came compete with two jakey friends who looked for tee pegs and lost balls. Oh and a staffie. The complete package really.

Probably should have asked to play through but honestly I didn’t want the potentially unpredictable interaction.

Muirfield I take it.

My mate played in the team match on Thursday night there and said the same, course was lovely, greens looked quick but were actually quite slow.
