I was stood on the tee of our par 3 18th today with a 2 hybrid in hand, 200 yards with a vicious crosswind.
I couldn't of hit the tee shot any better, it sailed on to the slightly elevated green.
Me and my playing partners couldn't see the green until 50 yards away at which point we realised the ball wasn't on it.
I thought it just can't be in the hole, it must be off the back. so just to prolong the suspense for myself I checked off the back, no ball.
I'm 38, and been playing for 10 years, and the most nervous ive been playing the game was stood on the 1st at St Andrews but the 20 or so steps towards the hole from the back of the green far outweighed that. I almost didn't want to look, but i did and there it was, I dropped to my knees and thumped the green.
I still can't believe it.
