I cheated !

I put a pitch mark repairer just inside the "down the line" line. It caused me (I think) to hit across the ball, in to out. My fellow four ball could not beleive the ball flight, nor could I!!! 269 yards, cheekily I started it right of the fairway and it drew back.

putting something there is - leaving something there isn't.

just position the ball/tee such that you take advantage of an imperfection (divot) or discarded tee peg/broken bit.

Yes it is cheating but as DM says, use something natural on the ground to replicate the object and not a problem
