I bought today.....

Problem with me is more left arm coming away from the body slightly on the way down and shoulders a bit sort of shut through impact, leading to obviously bad ones being big blocks or right off the heel and the dreaded shank.
The video I watched showed the band helping both arms stay in better position, almost forcing the body/torso to turn on the way down keeping arm in a bit tighter than my usual and help a more down and left strike.

I had it on last night it does feel a bit strange but I think it’s one to stick with. It feels like your forced into a real abbreviated finish sort of chest facing the target a lot more. Where as that is probably just a bit more normal than my natural feel. I was on trackman too and shorter irons were showing a more minus club path which is a positive.

I received an email from Milessey, asking me to review the rangefinder I ordered and paid for two months ago and still not received.

Positively, everything bar L.A.B. no 4 is with me now and just need to re-grip the Vokey SM9 black premium 60 degree wedge for a sexy looking bag.

Now need to decide what to sell and where.

Went to try the new Elyte driver against my AiSmoke. Whilst there were slight gains to be had I'm not sure they were enough to warrant blowing £500.

I also tried the Elyte Mini-Driver. After hitting 15 shots that you could have thrown a dustbin lid over, with what I would call an acceptable reduction of distance compared to the driver, I handed over my credit card.

Will be using the MiniDriver exclusively in tomorrows round.

So....played a greensomes comp yesterday in maybe 20-25mph winds, so perhaps not the best day to use a mini driver in place of the big stick and fairly compare it.

But, for the record, I used the mini-driver on 12 of our 13 non par 3 holes, the only exception being the 6th which runs out of fairway at around 200yards and was one of only three or four holes on the entire course where the wind gave any semblance of assistance at all.

I hit 10 of the 12 fairways (last 3 months I'm at 59% fairways hit), missing only the extremely narrow 9th to the right (an alignment issue) and the 15th where I nutted the tee shot straight left expecting the wind and my natural fade to do its thing...which it didnt.

Distance wise was difficult to say due to the wind and not sure how far the driver would have gone in those conditions....i suspect it was maybe 10-15yards shy of where a driver might have been....doing some rough measurement on google earth I'd say I hit shots anything from 180 (against) to 215 (with), and an average over the 12 drives of 198 yds. (88 mph normal driver swing speed). I certainly wouldn't have been able to hit 3-wood those sort of distances in the same conditions.

I did not try to hit the mini driver from the floor.

Will be interesting to see typical driving distances with the club in less windy conditions but for accuracy, it cant really be faulted. Played the club in its natural 13.5 degree setting, with the rear weight in the neutral position and the hosel cog also set at neutral. Might be interesting to go down a degree in loft and move the sole weight or the hosel to the draw position. Might see if I can get out one evening this week.

Long term, I dont expect this club to replace my driver, but it would be a specialist weapon to find fairways on some of our narrower holes (the vast majority of our fairways are less than 30yds wide at the landing point, with two or three being closer to 20 yds) whilst not sacrificing too much distance. For longer term continuous inclusion I'd either drop the 60 degree wedge, which to be fair doesnt get a huge amount of use or go to a 54/58 setup.

Still...lots more experimenting to go.

Bought club members PXG Black Ops driver (Tour -1).

Really fancied one and hoping my shaft from my Gen5 will work well with it. Think its a low spinner bomber so need to practice with it (before i sell my Gen5), however some bad sciatica at the moment might stop practice for a bit

So if the jobs up the wall on the Central line it's because you're standing over a tricky left to right four footer?

Not quite bought today, but fitted today, for Titleist T200 irons, trading in 5 to pw Sim Max but only buying 6 to pw as I prefer my 5 rescue, just have to wait for them to be delivered to the Pro, not my own club but one pretty nearby 😉

If anyone's interested I've gone for stiff Tensie Red graphite shafts, mainly to try and help a bit with the tendinitis I suffer from sometimes, was averaging 175 yds with the 7 iron on the Trackman off a mat, which I'm never really comfortable hitting off, not too bad for a 67 year old, according to the Pro I can still 'get it out there a bit' nice to know !

175 carry? You can certainly get it out there that’s the same distance as the +2 I play with carries his 7 iron.

Just remember, they're discontinuing the current T200, so some bargains to be had - even custom fit. New 250's look extremely sexy.

I enjoyed my T200's - cracking iron.

Legato golf balls 3 piece 85 compression urethane cover for under £30/12 .. seemed worth a punt. I like Wilson Triad but no point paying over the odds for ammunition. Plus a bionic glove

I've genuinely never heard of Legato balls. Where did you stumble across them??
