Slipper Wearing Plucker of Pheasants
I apologise for the above incomplete and therefore inaccurate story of Cobra being owned by Puma.It requires a fair bit of research to find out.
A brand name might be considered American, but controlling financial ownership could be anywhere in the world.
Cobra is based in California. Shafts and grips are made in Mexico and imported to be assembled in California.
Puma bought Cobra in 2010.
Puma is a German company founded by Rudolf Dassler when he and his brother Adolph split their family business. Adolf founded Adidas.
Puma was listed on the German stock exchange since 1986.
Rudolph's two sons sold their 72% stake in Puma to Swiss business Cosa Liebermann in 1989.
Is Cobra (based in California) a Swiss owned company? Or German? Or American?
Your guess is as good as mine.
Cosa Liebermann were the majority owner after their purchase of 72% of Puma in 1989.
But the French group Pinault-Printemps-Redoute (PPR) started buying up shares in the 2000s. By 2007 it owned 60% of Puma.
PPR has changed its name to Kering. The parent holding company of Kering is Groupe Artemis.
Groupe Atemis holds 29% of Puma, but is still the largest single shareholder.
Puma remains on the German Stock Exchange and Puma owns Cobra.
So maybe Cobra is French now?

But Cobra was founded by Tom Crow who was Australian.
