I bought today.....

So Tashyboy after a bit of surfing the net came across an A1 condition set of Ping G430 irons at Daventry Golf club, ex demo. So last night at 8.35 pm Tash was successful in his winning bid for 7 irons, I was ecstatic. So this morning me and Missis Tash checked our passports and headed south. Met a fantastic guy called John at the course and I inspected the clubs. They were absolutely fantastic.
However, it turns out John is a bad man and a fantastic salesman. He said “ have a look at the Ping rail as we have loads of stock we have not got round to reducing yet, if you see anything let me know and I will see what I can do re price”. So I had an amble over and guess what was winking at me. A brand new Ping g430 sft 10.5 degree reg shaft. It was calling my name. John had a quick play on said calculator and “ Boom” a deal was agreed on the driver. Quite frankly I was buzzing. He knocked me £30 off the irons which I was ecstatic with the original price and I came away with a driver as well. He said “ take a Ping cap with you as well”.
Bottom line I could do with a bigger head I am smiling that much.
Suffice to say if you are after any golf gear and know your spec, give John a ring at Daventry Golf club.

So now I am flogging my old golf gear and listing it for a price to Go. GMax irons for £150. Buyer to collect. Jack from Halifax has just asked if I will PX. Er no. Will I deliver, er where to. Halifax. I kept my response polite.

Nice boring purchase today. Got the Mrs and I new electric tooth brushes.. didn't get custom fit tho.. just got a pair of io7 oral b brushes , one for our room one for downstairs (obviously different brush head itself for each of us in both those bathrooms)

Nice little offer , managed to pick them up semi reasonable price

Its not WHAT I've bought that is the problem....it is what i am almost certainly going to buy in a few weeks time.

Had a spare couple of hours (I'm retired...of course I've got a spare couple of hours!!!) before an appointment at the local recycling center, so ambled off down the golf shop with the possibility of maybe thinking about a new three wood.

Absolutely crushed the new Callaway Elyte 3-wood so the £300 i had in my back pocket was soon handed over.

But then, with still a bit more time to kill, I stupidly asked to have a hit with the new Elyte irons. Will be going back in a couple of weeks for a proper comparison/fitting v my current AiSmokes.

Was it really that much better than the AI Smoke you had? Or you just fancied a new shiny?

I have seen good reviews of the Elyte range performance, it's just a shame they look so tacky and have a terrible name.

Lower launch, lower spin, more carry, more roll, better feeling.

Not sure what is tacky about the look. The slate grey matt carbon weave looks excellent at address.

The sole colourway is only important to those who think a club needs to look good on the rack.

Club could be called The Trump for all the difference it makes.

I dunno, someone said they look like those package starter sets, and I agree. Maybe I just don't like green? Of course opinions will differ though. And as always, performance trumps looks so if it works I'd have one.

I have the Elyte driver and 4 wood. Green is only visible on the base. If you play golf like me you don't really pay attention to that part of the club. Face and crown is what appeals to me for a club.
