I bought today.....

Treated my mate to an SGGT iron fitting.

Very thorough and I feel justified at the £150 cost.

Was small fry - he spent just short of two and a half grand hahahahaha.

That is cruel.. Passing your buying golf issue onto yout mate.

What did he end up going with?

Mizuno JPX925 Hot Metal Pro, with fancy shafts which boosted the price, all to be pured and a couple of T-1 wedges.

I love a fitting, but never sat in with someone else having one and watching the data hone in to a 'perfect' shot over the hour and a half was really enjoyable.

Jesus , what shafts? Makes mine look ridiculous priced lol but then I got 6-gw and then my s23 wedges were £99 each

Fujikura Axiom Taper Iron Shaft 105g S, which is basically two hundred quid per iron/wedge, plus I think £25 to pure, plus grips. The wedge shafts which worked best were heavier and steel KBS.

He’s been done there, £110 max most places for that shaft.

Seems a mad expensive shaft to stick in those chunky monkeys.

I've never heard the
Hot metal PRO irons called chunky monkeys before mind?
Or fancy garden tools....

They're not, but this is the internet, so it must be true lol.

They're what I see as for single figure golfers who still want forgiveness. I'm not a fan of the look in the bag, but at address, they're a nice looking iron - quite short heel to toe, with a pretty thin top line.

I wish I could hit a 170 yard 8 iron, with a decent angle to stop dead with my T series irons.

Pro must have given me different HMPs at a fitting last month then. They weren’t exactly precision instruments with a “pretty thin top line” but I suppose it’s in the eye of the beholder.

Ah, so your comment was because you held one for 11 seconds a month ago - thanks for the feedback 🤣

Thin is thin, whoever's eyes are looking and they're not the slimmest, but nowhere near chunky irons at address.

What kind of fitting do you hold clubs for 11 seconds? The forged were thin. The forged were the “better player” category.

With all the fittings you’ve been to you must have amassed a much greater knowledge than a mere mortal like me so I bow down to it.

They weren't for you, so 11 seconds is ample to pass them back following your expert 'these are not for me' view.

You're being obtuse, now ripping into me for attending a fitting or two.

Why a fellow member takes the p1ss out of someone shelling out two and a half grand on what worked perfectly for them is a typical internet forum trait, sadly.

No need to bow down, just wind it in.

To be honest you lost me at thin is thin 😂.

I shall expect due reports on his strides to scratch golf with his perfectly working irons. Golf IS a game of perfect it seems.

It is horses for courses. Some clubs will be thinner on the eye compared to what the user had previously etc.

I have the i530 and from the top they don't look as chunky as they do from the bottom. Long as the club works for the guy that is using them that is all that matters.
