Hybrid distance

Evening all,
Just wondering if anyone can shed a little light on a subject.....
I used my shiney new Seve Icon 24 deg hybrid today for the first time . I bought it with a regular Proforce V2 shaft and was told that these are a little stiffer than some stiff shafts..
I hit it into a pretty strong head wind today and hit it about 170mtrs.....
Does this sound an ok distance for a 24 deg hybrid
Im on the fence as iv never hit one of these before.....

I've never tried a 24deg, but I would imagine it should be somewhere between your 3 and 4 iron distances.

170m is 184yds by my maths, which sounds a decent whack into a strong headwind, especially if yours is anything like as high a flight as mine.

I have a 19deg and hit it about 10-15yds more than my 3 iron.

i was a bit sceptical about the shaft as everything else i have is stiff except my irons......
The ball flight is penetrating though not overly high.

Was there a lot of run? If the flight was quite low it may have run on a long way. I currently have a Titleist 585 24 degree and can hit that nigh on 200 (about 185 carry) but not into headwind
Either way its a good clout.

I hit my 21 degree about 200 yards, which is equivalent to a 3i. That said, I have a dynamic gold steel shaft in it, as I specifically wanted it to hit the same as a 3i, where as if I had gone for graphite it would be longer.

This is a few yards further than me (185-195), no surprise there, but I reckon 170 metres with a 24 degree is quite decent and about right, unless you are able to hit your 4 iron 200....

I hit my 19* approx 215 yds.
But into a good headwind would expect around 190 as it flies very high.

Do you use it off the tee on short holes?

I use mine on the last at my course where 195-200 is optimum and 201 probably jumps into the lake. I was about 197 today.

I find I get 10 yards more off a low-ish tee than off the fairway.

I have Titleist 585H 19* and 24*. I hit the 24* around the 200 yard mark and the 19* about 220ish so into a strong head wind 184 yards is a fair hit!!

I hit my 19 degree taylormade about 220. personally i think it is a club i would use for accuracy rather than distance!

Thanks guys i give it a fair whack alright but try not to knock the name off the ball as the accuracy takes a battering then..... I read an article in an old copy of the mag that said dont be afraid to hit the ball hard and im not
Its just the shaft had me a bit baffled s everything else i use are stiff but i dont have trouble hitting any of them.....

For the longer par 3's & on short par 4's where anything longer will run out of fairway. Also of course, where accuracy is of a premium I use it.

I think the shaft stiffness issue is a red herring. I bet the frequency if the UST R is not less than the MacGregor stiff. So I think the shaft labels are misleading you into thinking the UST is softer. It really isn't. Anyway if it was distance loss due to being too soft, you would be hitting the ball high and seeing it balloon. I don't have a 24 degree but if I did, I doubt I would hit it past yours.
