I was recently playing in our seniors stablford ,I drew the slowest 2 players in the seniors. The first 9 holes i scored 21 points shooting a 40,my handicap is 18,i had the competion in my grips but then their slow play got to me and I ruined 4 holes only scoring 15 on the back nine when I should have had at least 20/22 points ,I know their slow play put me off and ruined my concentration and focus, how do I over come this problem for the future?help please

Easy and fun. Eat some high energy slow burning food, make sure you are 100% on your club choice, look for danger in the shot. Check alinement and double check, looking for thing behind the green and all that good shiz. Make sure you back is warm with some slow swings.

Now are you truly ready to play a great shot.

If you're being held up by slow play:
On the tee - look at the wind, the conditions, the hole, remember previous GOOD tee shots, zone in where you want to hit the ball when it's your turn.
On the fairway - practice swing while waiting (asuming not affecting them), as well as all of the above.
On the green - practice putting stroke (based on where your ball is to the hole, not just wafting the putter around), read the green from another angle, check the grain to work out roll, watch the speed of their putts.

Others' slow play can help you, but only if you see it as an opportunity. I had to teach myself to do this, and I still forget every now and again, but I'm much better at coping with slow play.

Give me slow play over a chatterbox who doesn't know when to shut-up any day!

Don't just lean on your club or bag, and get frustrated.

Happened to me last Sunday and I totally lost the plot! :o :o

The fourball I was in had two of the slowest players in the galaxy.
And that's saying something cos I'm not quick! :p

Just under 5 hours and we were more than a hole and a half behind the 4ball in front. The ones behind weren't near us except on the closing hole so no one there to let through! :D

slow play doesnt annoy me, take it easy man. enjoy it, take in your next shot, see where you want to be for your second shot. then think how you are going to play the shot. i can get pretty stressed at work. golf helps so chill out man. remember you are not a pro and your livelyhood doesnt depend on it.  again chill with a pill

hmmm an interesting one this. It could be that you are concentrating too much. If are are trying the whole round to focus on the golf then your concentration will spill over onto the negatives and become distracted almost obsessed with how slow these guys play.

Even during a normal 4 hour round you don't want to be concentrating all the time so like the previious posts said just take a deep breath and look at the scenery and enjoy the fresh air. When it is your turn to play switch on your game face but only until your shot has landed then go back to watching the world pass you by.

You should be enjoying your good game and not caring about what the other guys are doing.

Failing that get yourself a good phone and check out some porn on course. That'll take your mind off slow play.

lemonparty.org might not be your thing but there are other sites out there!

Kill them, and bury them in the woods.
Why bother burying them? Sloth like snail paced scum sucking golf spoilers of this type will not be missed. SLOW PLAY is a crime against humanity and should be punishable by club insertion and ball removal.

Try and keep the mind off of your game, what you've scored, what you hope to score and what you think might win. It sounds like you kept thinking about golf and your round. Switch off between shots. Talk about anything other than golf and then focus when it's your turn to play.
