MVP has nailed it with the post regarding monthly spend but it made me think about how much I have spent on golf 'STUFF' this year and it is quite a bit.

£90 new bag for start of season
£100 Odyssey No.7 putter
£110 golf shoes
£450 golf fees
£80 Cleveland CG11 wedge
£200 Cheryl (driver)
£80 Mizuno MP001 3-wood only because of the shaft. Prolite Elite.
£320 irons
£40 gloves
£150 clothing
£20 socks
£40 hats and wooly bunnet
£100 golf balls
£160 deposit for new course membership
£200 2nd hand powacaddy and bag
£10 tees

£2150 all in ..... F**k a duck.

I reckon I wouldn't have any change out of £4000 but did buy new irons, new fairways, 2 bafflers, 2 pairs of shoes, a wedge, and loads more crap. Plus green-fees, fuel etc etc it soon adds up. If H.I.D reads this I will be majorly in the doghouse!

Mmmmm definitely not a thread to le tthe missus see!!!!

Let me think

Callaway golf bag £90
Odyssey Marxman putter £109
Callaway Driver £169
Cobra DWS hybrid £109
Hi Tec golf shoes £45 (reduced from 79.99)
Pro Quip rain suit £89 (reduced from £170)
Golf balls >£75 dozen TP black, Dozen HX tour, Dozen Pro V1
Club jumper (for matches) £50
Club shirt (for matches) £35 last two are a con as you have to wear them to play. Not kit no game!!

So oodles of money. Especially as I was made redundant in January and didn't find another job until August. Trying to pay this lot of the credit card. They seemed essential at the time though

Ooooohhhh. Scary.

I'm guessing it would be around the price of a new car......but I'd still rather be playing the golf.

Did invest in a new driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, bag, trolley, 2 wedges, various golf trips with the lads and many, many green fees for away courses this year, though.

My figures are also pretty scary but I did recover some cash on the bad buys through trade in and ebay:

Di7 Irons £299.00
Ogio Bag £109.00
Nike 5 Wood £129.00
Orka Hybrid £60.00
3 Wrong Drives £400.00
1 Right Orka Driver £150.00
Balls £100.00
Shoes £100.00

And that is not including green fees etc

Just realised I've played more than 25 "away" courses this year, adding up to more than £1000 in green fees alone.

That's more than twice my current membership fees and doesn't include course planners, logo'd ball markers, drinks, food, travel costs.

Ouch !!

Oops, just looked back and other than subs, transport, balls etc I've not spent anything on equipment this year.

So..... that means that I can look forward to the sales after Christmas and do some catching up afterall that's a nice new driver Mizuno have brought out isn't it!

What about the phsycological side of the game? I can't see that anyone has spent on this. I recently subscribed to www.playgreatgolf.co.uk. It cost me only £25 for the year and an ebook by Gail Smirthwaite, which outlines perfectly how to approach the game from the mind side. Excellent value and well worth a look.

Apart from that have spent in the last month...
New glove - £9
Yet more balls - £12
A lesson - £25
Range balls - £6
Diesel - Negligable

Best value has to go to the play great golf membership though!!

I only started playing this year, so a lot! Especially when I include all the cr*p, stupid and impulse buys - like saving money by buying Dunlop shoes from SportsWorld then having to replace them with Footjoys 2 months later.
I really don't want to add this up!

And for the other side of xmas, depending on our bonus (if any) I've seen a lovely set of Mizuno MX-19's and an even lovelier set of Ping S58's. (Must ask our pro which I could best handle!) Plus there's that Fisher putter I've seen . . .
