What a way to start!

Seriously, an old battered blue leather and nylon pencil bag with an assortment of horrendous clubs in them. That said, boy did we have fun in the field along from my house hitting balls with these old beasts. Sometimes the horses would bolt in pain after a Slazenger B51 or MacGregor Tourney skelped them unexpectedly on the rump!

Haha, these were the days.

Played with various odds and ends as I learned to play the game. First matching set of irons was when I was a 1st year apprentice with £24 a week burning a hole in my pockets way back in 1977 ;)

Greentree Trevino SuperMex Irons
Ben Sayers Crown
Browning Automatic
John Letters Calculus
Tommy Armour 955s
Maxfli Revolution (Black Dot) (Two Sets)
Mizuno MP30
TM LTII
Mizuno MX900
Mizuno MP57
Mizuno JPX Pro

Can't remember what I had first time round as I used to pick up whatever was cheapest in the 2nd hand racks.

Since I've started back again (2.5yrs), I've had...

MP-32
AP2
Nike Pro Combo

Petron Impala
Lynx Parallax
SB Blades
Maxfli revolution
Callaway X14 Pro
Callaway X-Forged

I think thats it, never changed the irons much once found some I like, now the list of woods/putters is a touch longer lol

Your aim is getting worse then. Those sheep on Sat never flinched hahaha

Wouldn't want to hit a sheep.

As the Aberdeen fans famously sang

"I'd rather sh@g a sheep than Mrs Mols!" So they clearly have their uses.

1983 - first set, can not remember the make but have a feeling they were MacGregor or similar.
1988 - Ping Eye 2
1996 - Ping Eye 2+ - still have these clubs as my son used them for a while
2007 - Callaway Big Bertha
2008 - Ping i5
2010 - Ping i15

Like the look of the Ping i20's and the Ping Anser irons. Will have to try them out when I can

First clubs I can remember were old things with brown shafts and dots on the face instead of grooves. My dad chopped them to length and stuck insulating tape on for a grip.
In 1975 I got a half set of Dunlop Tony Jacklin 3, 5, 7, and 9
In 1980 added Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge 4, 6, 8 and SW.
1984 got a set of Ryder MkII 3 to SW. These lasted till I packed in the game in 1992.

Started playing again 2 years ago and picked up a set of MD superstrong forged irons off ebay which were ok but hit the ball way way up in the air.
Got my Ping i10's second hand last summer.

So I make it 5 sets since 1970ish.

This reminds me so much of how I started. My granddad died and left me his car. In the boot was a set of ancient clubs and ancienter balls, carried around in a bag from between the wars.
God bless him......I wish he'd not left them in the boot, would have saved me years of trying to master the silly game.

I remember playing with the B51 golf balls. Came in their own little box with tissue paper. As a teenager you could never get enough tissue paper.
