How many of you mark a line on your ball?

Can't see how the line helps at all. Even if you draw it all the way round, you see what? 1 1/2" of it.

Now aiming at a hole 20 foot away, using a 1 1/2" line is never going to be accurate. Even if it's a couple of degrees out, you're going to miss. Most people would struggle to line up a metre long steel rule accurately from 20 ft. I struggle to get an alignment stick pointing in the right direction at the golf range.

Chuck the ball down, have a look, whack it. Chances are you aren't even hitting the ball square either. Factor in a poor read of the green, a few bobbles, a dodgy strike, and getting the pace wrong and it's a flippin miracle anything ever goes in.

Is the right answer!! :D

I did, interestingly, I have putted way better without, I felt that I was over reading greens. Just a quick look now and feel the way to the hole

I just use the line on the ball. I try and line it up towards the hole but when I go and stand back it invariably points left or right and I can't be asked to faff around getting it lined up properly

I find it helps, although I don't always draw a line, sometimes I just use the line already on the ball.

I go through phases of doing it, then other times I will just pick a spot in front of the ball to roll it over. I'm not sure I get much difference either way to be honest, my putts/putts per GIR always hovers around 1.8/2.2 anyway.

I tried using the maker's line marked on the ball but then like others doubted it when over the ball.
I then tried picking a mark on my line but by the time I had had a couple of practice swings had forgotten where it was!
I have gone back to using the line on the ball and checking a couple of times to confirm its right Have sunk more 6-8 footers now and only have to worry about pace on the longer ones. Think I will stick with it. ;)
