Yeah you're right. I got a hole in one in our foursomes comp last weekend. My partner sunk the tee shot. I took great delight telling everyone about my hole in a half.

One on a particularly short Par 5 hole that plays even shorter than its yardage by playing across the dogleg (IIRC it is about 440 yards direct) and missed another 4-5 chances on this hole(DOH, putting is so rubbish!) and one on another par 5 after a cracking drive and 5 wood to the green.

Both in the middle of summer when the ground was hard, otherwise I don't hit it far enough to reach the greens in two.

Only had two prior to this year(one on a short par 5 at Hainault and one at the long gone Austin Lodge in Kent, when I holed an 8 iron from about 140 yards and couldn't even see it!!).
