As my Sig suggests I have acquired a couple too many clubs. I also have a 60° and a putter I was given (which I love the weight of) but don't think these as credible alternatives, yet... So this creeps me up to 18. As we speak the driver and 17° hybrid are out (hardest to hit)
How many clubs do you all have? And is it the better players are more wedge heavy, while us hackers go for more longer clubs?

More wedge heavy. By my calculations you have pw, sw, 44/49/54 wedges and then the 58.

It's about what works for you, but personally I'd be dropping the 31* hybrid! the ping tour 58* and possibly the stock pw and sw if the other 3 wedges gave equal gapping - 6 wedges in a mix of styles and models is a no no for me.

Sorry the pw is 44, aw 49 and sw 54. And I'm to attached to the 31, maybe if I could stay out the long stuff it could go

Would agree with OddSocks re dropping the clubs - especially the 31 hybrid!!!!

I've just dropped my 3 iron out for the time being so now have:

Driver
3 Wood
18.5 hybrid
4-PW
52*
58*
Putter

Don't feel like I need any more at the moment, if anything, want to drop the 3 wood and hybrid and just get a 4 wood in but can't really be bothered with the ebay gaffing around at the moment. The more clubs I have, the more indecision I have.

I'm confused.

4-sw - 9 clubs
Putter
Ping wedge
Driver
3 wood
3 hybrids

16 clubs?

For me the ping 58 and one of your longer clubs need to go, does the 31* or 23* cross over with the 4i,

Yeah I have 16, 2 have to go. Can't be the 58 as I've only just bought it! Haha. The 17 isn't giving me what I'd hoped so that's 1 and the driver is a work in progress.
Was hoping more of how many people have, carry spares in the garage and swap and change, or have 14 and rigidly stick to them

I would drop the 17 degree hybrid, drop the 4 iron ( your hybrid 23 deg should be this distance, but the 31 degree .. That's a 6 iron??). As for wedges well you have to have so many because of all these strong lofts on playing sets now.

As per the question in OP, I've got 17: two drivers, two 3woods, 5wood, 3i-pw, 5h, 52, 58, & putter. Obviously a driver and 3wood are redundant so the decision is between the 3i and the 5h. Or the 58. For now the 3i stays home. But I want a 3h as well so will have to ponder on it some more.

As a not particularly long hitting senior, I carry more long clubs, because they are what I need to reach or get near the greens. Current set is driver/3-wood/5-wood/22 degree hybrid/Irons 4-PW/gap wedge/sand wedge/putter. In the summer I take out the 4-iron and add a 58 degree lob wedge. May also replace the 5-wood with a 19 degree hybrid.

I probably have around 20 'keepers', my bag gets shuffled about dependant on how I am playing! the weather and or the course. My trouble being I buy clubs but can't be bothered to move them on. I probably have about 50 in total.

I have 13 and have never had a situation where I've thought I need another club in the bag. The only thing I have considered is putting in a left handed wedge for those rare occasions you can't hit it right handed when up against a wall or a tree etc.

Anybody else do this?

I am yet to meet a golfer that doesn't have a few clubs lying in a corner.

I had a clear out over the last year giving a full set to a friend yet still have the following.

Cobra Amp Cell Driver & 3/4W, 18*, 21* 24* MD hybrids, 18* MD driving iron, 4-PW Callaway Razrx, 48* 54* 60* MD wedges, 3 putters and a Diablo Tour 6i with training grip fitted.

I would lose the 60 degree. More trouble than they are worth for many club golfers in my opinion.

That should be easy, since he doesn't have one.

With the OP's hybrid set up there must be a case for removing the 4iron, maybe the 5 too.

With that bag for me it would depend whether the 3w is used as a tee club regularly. If so I'd take out the 17* hybrid and the 4iron. If the 3w I not used a lot then I'd lose that in favour of the 17*.
The 58 would be staying. I couldn't have 54 as my most lofted wedge, especially not if it's a shovel from an iron set.

As for the original question, I've got basically another full set up and additional spare driver and fairways in reserve, along with 5 putters. I am now trying to stick to a stable 14 clubs, per my signature. I have 2 putters in rotation til I decide, everything else not in the bag is now gathering dust.

Haha, brilliant stuff. My 18 clubs are looking a bit flimsy, maybe I could convince the other half I should carry on looking  but 50 clubs though? Amazing! And 5 putters?? Haha
