How many balls?

Usually I do 90, two buckets of 45, for a practice session or just 45 if its after work and spend more time putting and chipping.

Before a round I tend to hit about 45 mixing all shots and clubs, full, 3/4, pitch and punch shots. I also try to get a fix of where to start the ball that day, is it more or less draw than usual. I try not to practice, just do a natural swing and take the info from that onto the course.

I usually hit 100 balls, but i like to practice my less than full power wedge shots and mid irons the most.Rarely do i hit more than 20 with my driver!

I usually get 100 balls but if I'm on my own I normally hit half of them and just leave the rest, not a big fan of the range! If I'm with a mate though I'll hit them all as we have little comps and wagers to liven it up a bit!

Usually get a couple of tips, bout 70 balls, start with 58 deg wedge, then 54/52, go through the bag till the 3 iron, only maybe 2/3 balls with each club, then maybe hit driver or 3 wood, only about 5 times or so, maybe have a little game where I will play a couple of holes, ie hit driver as I would on the first, then 6 iron, as that would be my shot to the green......

usually spen most time with a wedge in hand to be honest, or 7/8 iron.

Can be 10-15 balls before a round or anything upto 100 or 120 balls if practising and got something specific to work on.

Having now got the camera and constantly going back to watch previous shots sessions are taking longer but hitting less shots which is a big improvement on just pounding out a bucket for the sake of it

Depends. If I'm working on a drill I'll get 85 and it'll take me a good hour and a quarter/half to get through them. Rehearse the drill hit it repeat. I like to take my time and try and get it to click.

I use to hit two big buckets regularly (170 balls in total) but by the time I was starting the 2nd I was too tired to swing properly and tempo and technique went. Waste of time really as I wasn't getting anything positive from the extra bucket. It's quality and not quantity

Had a naff round recently and went and hit 200 balls straight after.

Also hit 200 during my lesson evenings. I'll warm up with 50-75.....Hit around 50 during the lesson and then hit the remainder straight after.

About 120. A £3 bucket has about 75-80 and a £2 bucket about 40-45.
I see some get a £3'er and go through it in about 15 minutes.

My swing deteriorates after 40-50 balls in one session so I tend to stop then. Boredom also means I am not concentrating as I should and end up just thrashing balls for the sake of it.

Dont know how some can do 200 balls in a session.... hard core :) :p

When I first got specialist wedges I done 200 balls, 50 with each wedge. My hands were bloody raw

Blimey Oddsocks, thats dedication - personally hitting 50 lob wedges in a row at a range would bore me to tears - I like walloping the big dog :D :D

You can put away for doing that in public SHW....!! :D

I only do 45 and make it last an hour with lots of changes of club. I think its the mental concentration that makes that the limit rather than getting tired.
I seldom hit driver as I never feel happy with getting the tee height correct with the big rubber ones at our range. Any body else suffer this problem?
