How difficult is your 1st hole??????

As others have already pointed out, our course off the Silvers is a relatively straightforward par 5 at around 475 yards.........but.......take the tee back 20 yards and turn it into a par 4 off the blacks and it is definitely no walk in the park.

Dog leg right to left with bunkers guarding the right hand side and anywhere left blocked out, even a 300 yard drive will leave you 200 ish to a green, heavily guarded by bunkers front, left and right.

Throw in a long narrow 2 tiered green and trees down both sides pretty much the length of the hole and you'll do well to witness any pars here off the blacks.

Here is the view of the landing area if you're lucky enough to miss the trees and the bunkers.
One of my favourite holes when it's off the blacks.

Looks lovely and terrifying at the same time if you know what I mean....still at least it's the first hole. Imagine if that were the 18th and you had a good round going

Yeah 18s a walk in the park lol, par 5 with out of bounds both sides off the tee. IF you hit a good one its a lay up then the green is set back at an angle to the fairway with a lake cut into the front and right of it, or if youre really brave (read stupid) you can try and knock it in the lake for 2 lol.

Off the yellows its a simple 160 yard par 3. OB and the lake left not really in play at all. Off the whites, into a cross wind, the water hazard is in play. There's a line of trees short and right to block anything sliced off a tee now measuring 229 yards off the back. Two deep bunkers left and another right. SI 10. Always take a four and move one. Even a five isn't the end of the world with a good chance for a par (shot hole) at the next.

Ours is a straightforward 320 yard par four, just a deep bunker to avoid to the right of the fairway about 210 yards from the tee. However, yesterday was the first time I've managed the green in regulation in 25 attempts.

One of the best opening holes I have played - Duchess 1st is a close second

Off the backs, a 185 yard par 3 to a narrow, 2 tiered green that sits at a slight angle from the tee. Bunker front right, and a bunker on the left side as well. Should be relatively straightforward...but 4 is a good score!

Ours is a toughie. Statistically equal 2nd most difficult hole (avg 5.50), but SI 5 on the card. 413yd Par 4, dog leg right. OOB down the left, trees right. You need to hit it around 230 straight to get far enough down to see the green. Then you are still left 180 ish, with more OOB left of the green, pot bunkers either side of a green, that slopes back to front down into a valley. Short and you are in the valley or a bunker, with the green above eye level. Long you are OOB or on a back stop with thick 2nd cut, chipping downhill. It's a beaut. Par here feels like a birdie :-)

Ours is a 340 yard Par 4 very downhill and generally straightforward other than OOB right

Below is from this weeks medal (circa 80 golfers) played 16th hardest

421 Par 4. Drive over a grassy pit, sloping fairway, hard to hold in summer without a draw, OB all the way up the left, uphill approach and a tricky 2 tier green. Most agree it's the most difficult starting hole in the area and most would be more than happy with a 5 to start. Oh and a nice 215 par 3 to follow. Get's better after that!

Ours is a par 5 about 510/520 I think.

Not too long but very deep bunkers all down the hole and around the green. Rough and mounds left and right also, worse on the right. Not a hugely appetizing shot if you're going at it in 2 with pot bunkers around the green and bushes left and right of those.

If you play it as a 3 shot par 5 it should be a par at worst.

I tend to make a right balls of it in comps!

I'm equally capable of parring it or making a complete hash of it.

Off the whites our 1st is a 482 yard par 5 and with a decent drive can be quite comfortable but off the yellows it's a tough 457 yard par 4.

Ilfracombe is a par 5 reachable in 2 when the winds favourable and absolutely impossible when its not.
A good drive is paramount and it has to be straight to reach in 2 as the rough either side is just too thick.
A 2nd over a blind hill down the right is ideal leaving a short pitch to a sloping back to front green so below the hole is ideal else a slick putt awaits.

520 yard par 5, downhill with a fairly generous fairway if you avoid the bunkers right, good birdie opportunity.

On a two tee start however, the 10th is a completely different kettle of fish.

Par 4, 290 off the whites. Heavily guarded by bunkers short and around the green, and the most undulated green on the course.

As long as you miss the bunker 60 yards short of the green you should have decent birdie chance providing you hit the right section of the green with the second.

Birdie! with forum drives we'll all be putting for Eagles 😂😂
