How are your greens?

Up untill the middle of december they were perfect, ut like everywhere else they have taken a battering.

If this weather continues then they should be fine for mid April.

Our greens are so good that I'm currently spending an extra few minutes on each one to have a putt back the other way after my first effort.......

norwood park, fantastic. Not one temp Greek dirigible the winter and only one all weather tee installed last year the course has played fantastic all winter and yes it does get boggy in places but usually where you don't wanna put you ball or between holes. The greens are faster over the last two weeks but will get really faster. They are a royal pita during the summer months

Quick, as always, but still feeling the effects of the rain so a little soft in places.

Really starting to dry out now though and yesterday they were getting very fast again which should delight the boys coming down for the KoK at the end of the month.

Course maintenance starts proper this week to get everything in shape for the end of the month / start of 'real' competitions so should all be in top nick when I get back from the US in a couple of weeks.

Ealing is on my lst of places to play this year, when would you recommend?

Wandlebury course a bit bobbly but generally ok, if a little on the slow side.

Old course much better, very true and scary quick for this time of year. Shudder to think what they'll be like in the summer.

It has been boggy in parts but like I say only where you really should not be putting your ball. The first three holes are as straightforward as you will get but after that you really do have to start hole management. The greens in the summer have helped me to rediscover my tyrets syndrome.

When I won captains day last year I had to give a speech and it went along the lines of don't know who is driving the course forward but as a member the course gets better every year. Ave not heard many members moan. The green keepers all play to a very good standard so I would say they know what they want. head keeper matched course record last year and bogeyed last hole ouch.

someone has been smiling on me this winter coz 90% of the time ave been winter golfing it has been gorgeous but the day after or before it has been leatherin it down. If I you get chance to play it play summer time when the greens are like lightening.

Played it last summer and was quite impressed by the condition considering we only paid £10 each.

Ours are pretty decent at the moment. Certainly quick enough, little bobbly from recent treatment but by the end of the month and the start of the season proper they should be in great condition.

Wet weather all over the place. Parkland course and your greens are running faster than Augusta! All that on a course with £500 introductory membership.

Not jealous in the slightest

Our greens have been aerated and the haven't been mowed for a wee while so are the worst I've seen them all year but a little pain now will be worth it in the summer.

Ours are really quite good for the time of year mainly down to the fact they haven't been able to get the green mower to them so they have been cut with a hand mower smoothing out a lot of the small bumps that blight them at this time of year. They were treated, fed I think, at the end of last week so hoping with this good weather and more hand mowing they will be good for the weekend.

Our greens were shocking on Sunday, worst I've ever seen them. They looked more like a sand pit than a green. Putting on them was a joke, the ball just hopped and jumped all over the place
I'm hoping it's some sort of technique they use to get the greens ready for proper play in April onwards.

Ours are in good condition, we have a green iron and this has already been out this year, all the members we have spoke to say it is really good and has improved the greens.

Have to say we moved clubs the end of last year due to the state of our old place. The green keepers really do a fantastic job at Barnham Broom reinforcing our choice.

Our greens generally are really really good, smooth and quick, however last weekend they were wet and bumpy with footprints, hoping they will dry out and improve very quickly.

Mind you it didn't stop Tom Lewis shooting 61 on Saturday in a select v scratch match !!

Wow. Difficult to believe! Anyone who can have greens running that fast at this time of year and not have problems with disease (or death) is a genius! Best I know - at some pretty serious courses- are little more than 10.

Nothing wrong with the greens at The Shire on Saturday. Certainly look healthy. A little uneven growth by the end of the round as it's still a but cold for the bent-grass, but good to see growth!

Receptive is how I would describe ours.

Last weekend I hit a 52° gap wedge to the middle of the green. Watched it pitch, then spin back off the front

13 is too quick for club golf IMHO.

Ours are probably about 9 and improving all the time. As usual they aren't much to look at but they are true which is all that matters.

That was the pretty much 'traditional' time to tine them - considered the least disruptive to members as they all packed golf in for Winter. Nowadays, early September is considered appropriate as the greens recover much much quicker and allow Winter golf to be more 'proper golf' for the far greater numbers who play.

One thing guaranteed whenever it's done - there will be complaints!
