I hover Driver - and always have. Seems to create less bad tension than that involved in picking it up from the ground. Certainly seems to make for a smoother takeaway.

i tried it years ago and it never worked i think the idea was to create a smooth take away as for hitting the ball high on the face of your driver why not lower your tee or use a smaller pre -set one.

Having been playing for 40 years this is one of those perennial tips that seem to pop now and again .I read this thread on Friday last and halfway through my round on Saturday it came into my head and I started to try it,with some success.So much so so that I hovered the club for all my shots ,I have lost my touch this winter and particularly the short game has suffered.Lo and behold I started to get some feel for shorter shots and particularly chips and pitches from greenside.
I am long enough in the tooth to realise that this may only be a quick fix but it is a simple measure to adopt and I hope it will clear other rubbish from my mind when stood over the ball,I often feel I am trying to swing 'by numbers ' which is never a great idea.
Will see how it goes for a few games,
